I meet a friend here about every 3 weeks on a Sunday where we start a couple of pub visits.(I have also visited Christmas day for the past 3 years.) The staff are always friendly and helpfull if you need any help in choosing what beer to try. There are 5 beers and at least one is different every visit... More

Thank you for writing a review for us. We are pleased you enjoy your regular visits. Chef always has a good selection of small plates on our menu, what not try some food on your next visit. All our food is locally sourced and reasonably priced. The rugby days are very popular but if you time your visit to before... More

We found this almost by accident and spent a lovely afternoon soaking up the sun outside. It had good beer and friendly staff and locals. As others have said, "a proper pub".

Thank you for writing a review for us. Our terrace is a popular sun-trap, so much so that we have to find extra tables and chairs to seat everyone. Our friendly staff are only too pleased to help our customers enjoy their drinks in the sun. More

The Putney Arms used to be one of my regular student haunts, 30 years ago, and a return to Bath was a great excuse to pop round for a drink. Not much has changed, it was still a proper pub, a short walk from the town centre - not too packed on a Saturday night but with a good buzz,... More

Thank you for writing a review for us. How lovely for you to return after so long. We are pleased you still regard The Pulteney Arms as a proper pub. It is our aim to remain so with our sympathetic redecorating. We are owned by a Pubco but try to reinvest as we see fit within our limitations. More

This well situated pub close to art galleries parks and the rugby should really do well. I entered it on a sunny morning about 12:20 and I was the only customer, though, though that soon changed. I had a chat with the man behind the bar who was a graduate and looking for other work. He had been at this... More

Thank you for writing a review for us. We are pleased you enjoyed your visit. Our Manager did see you and remembers you very well despite not making eye contact. We were preparing for a very busy weekend so most staff were focussed in their area of expertise and perhaps not able to offer their usual attention on this occasion.... More

I regularly meet with friends at The Pulteney Arms as it has a relaxed atmosphere and you can get good banter from the staff and locals. The day-to-day menu is hearty classic pub grub but we've also tried some of the tasting menu evenings which I have to say have been absolutely excellent and seriously good value for money. I... Pretty good roast beef burger, but the haddock and chips was not to our liking. They cook had battered over the fish skin, and Cod would have been a better fish for fish & chips. We didn't realize it till later, but the prices were almost double what other pubs charge for a similar meal.

I think this review is not intended for The Pulteney Arms! We do not serve roast beef burger. Our burgers are made by Chef using fresh ingredients and is very popular served with our hand cut double cooked chips. Regarding our fish and chips, we serve only fresh haddock with double cooked chips, again a very popular dish with all... More

I come here every month now to meet some fellow writers so it's become a bit of a local. But i also remember coming in here on several occasions before, daytime and evening and I've always felt welcome. A nice place to have a pub meal even if you're completely new to Bath.

A typical pub setting. A good choice of meals for Sunday lunch including roasts & vegetarian options, we all enjoyed our main meals & puddings. The only down side was how cold it was inside the pub despite a log fire at the far end of the room, one of our party kept their coat on. We received mixed service.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for us. We are pleased you enjoyed your roast meals and desserts. As we mentioned to you, our central heating system was faulty and not working to full capacity and we were not able to repair it over the weekend. However it's now running smoothly and keeping everyone warm. More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for us. It's very rewarding to read such compliments and praise about our very old traditional public house. We make our scotch eggs regularly and they are very popular so do not last long! Other snacks on offer and proving popular are our macaroni cheese bites with bacon chutney. More
