The best lobster in my (quite extensive) international experience. A menu that is different, and interesting. Friendly staff. Unusual wine list! Just delicious.

Read the reviews and booked a table for Saturday night as visiting Bury St Edmund's.Whole experience was first class. Gorgeous from the outside and the interior full of Suffolk character .The menu was outstanding ..totally unusual..and inventive..found it very hard to choose. Eventually we settled on snails with bone marrow ,Quail, followed by calves kidney, and perfect lamb rump. The food was... More

i love going here. the menu can be unusual but the food always tastes superb. The owners are extremely personable and will go out of their way to assist wherever possible. They obviously enjoy what they do, which is always a big bonus. The bill wasnt extortionate. The wine list was adequate and caters for all pockets too. the place is... More

I really don't want to add to the long list of 5 star reviews as I want to keep this find a secret so we can still get a table. The menu changes daily and make sure you wait for the specials as they truly are special. Also have a good read of the wine list I found a real... More

We were late booking for a Saturday night but the proprietor accommodated us thankfully. Right from the moment we stepped through the door it was an experience which I wish I got every time I eat out! Food absolutely excellent in every way and pure quality. Attentive (but not overly) staff coupled with good service. And also the proprietor made... More

Wood-fired roasted asparagus for starters, risotto for mains and raspberry and almond tart for dessert; all delicious; most of the menu is meat or fish, and my partner had a mackerel starter and pork mains, and found those delicious too. There's a short but well-chosen wine list, and even the cheapest carafe of red that we had was very nice.... More

Had a really nice evening at Pea Porridge. They managed to squeeze us in at very short notice at a lovely front window table. The booking was early and slightly time limited but we were grateful to be accommodated. Really nice buzzy atmosphere with an interesting and varied menu. I had a simple asparagus starter which benefitted from the smokey... More

One of the best meals we have ever had. For starters I had curried chicken hearts and my partner had the snails & marrow - absolutely fantastic. For main I had braised cheeks and my partner braised ox-tail - absolutely fantastic... WOW! Deserts were great also. Cosy establishment. Clean, tidy and well presented. Staff excellent and very attentive. This will... More

As soon as we arrived at Pea Porridge, we knew we were in for a treat: a cosy, tastefully decorated restaurant and a warm welcome from Jurga. And oh my: such astonishing food - so many original dishes - it was difficult to choose from. A treat for meat lovers: - to start, I had sauté of snails, bone marrow,... More
