Excellent fish and chips. The fish so fresh, falling apart. Fantastic. Partner had Thai Chicken stir fry. Excellent. Beers great. One of our favourite places in Bury.

Friendly hosts, very helpful carrying our luggage from car upstairs. Facilities very clean and comfortable. Toilet difficult to flush and shower not too easy to use but nice and clean. Dinner in brewery bar was large and very well presented and tasty food. Highly recommend the pub. Breakfast included in price of stay.

Working lunch, love the Canon for the past 20 years.......oh dear what has happened? Staff that are lacking in knowledge of the drinks, an empty bar, an empty restaurant and lazy pub grub. Dry ham hock with congealed cooked cheese in a semi nice bun, a few dried old chips scattered round the side with a few dry leaves and... More

We dropped into this lovely brewery pub for lunch. My partner chose the Pork Stroganoff which she declared was tasty, hot and a good portion. I had the Chicken with noodles, lime and coconut yoghurt. The chicken was cooked to perfection and excellent flavour, nice colour and very moist and succulent. The accompanying noodles garnished with pimentos had a super... More

Was looking forward to a visit to The Cannon today, but it was a little disappointing and we won't be returning soon. The courtyard which was sunny was messy from the night before and needed a good sweep up and some TLC. Staff inside were polite and hard working. We had fish and chips, but the portion, presentation etc was... More

Going out for a Roast now days has been rather disheartening of late. Pleased I booked at The Old Cannon. We were all extremely happy having a fresh plate of food. Meat was delicious and so were the Roast Potatoes and Vegetables. Lovely atmosphere. Service was really good. Only one thing, wait for the customers to be seated first before... More

We visit this gastropub as much as possible. The food is always good with different specials on the board. They brew their own beer and use it to cook with. You'll need to book at the weekends especially Sunday lunch and don't forget to ask about the loyalty card.

Popped in for Sunday roast and the place was absolutely buzzing with a very relaxed atmosphere, everyone seeming to be having a great time. Wait would be about 10 minutes for a table, so we sat at the bar and sampled a couple of the excellent home brewed beers. Ordered one each of the 2 roasts on offer (sirloin of... More

I love this place. It's very local and friendly. The decor inside is really pretty and it's a relaxing place. It is small and it's not exactly the pub for a very large group of mingling drinking people out on a Saturday night. It's more chill and has a totally different vibe than say The Grapes or Gym Bar. It's... More
