Came here by chance one Thursday evening in March. We were immediately struck by the friendly welcome. The food is Italian but with more interesting choices than that often implies. I had a delicious spicy calamari as a first course and a perfectly cooked and pink calves' liver main which was tender and flavoursome. We could not manage puddings but... More

Lunchtime for four; Good corner table comfortable and not crowded with nice food supported by a reasonable wine list all carried out by acceptable service.

Marco Polo on Dean Street has been a fixture of the Newcastle food scene for many years. While others have been and gone Marco Polo continue to serve delicious food from a varied menu offering pasta, pizza, fish dishes and steaks and all at a reasonable price. Coupled with a decent selection of wine and beers it is well worth... More

Having travelled up from Essex for the weekend to Newcastle we found this restaurant and I think it is brilliant. I had a massive rib eye steak on the bone and it was cooked to perfection. The staff were attentive and the restaurant itself was quirky in how it was sectioned with lots of different rooms and am upstairs seating... More

We were invited to join friends to celebrate a "big" birthday, having a meal here! It's a long time since we did Saturday nights in The Toon, and surprised how busy it all was. There had been a match on, so that may have had something to do with it! The restaurant was busy, but food was fantastic. Service excellent,... More

Had been here before (5 years ago) and thought we'd visit it again, it was just as good this time too. Menu good, I had quail and my daughter had crab linguine, both very good! I found our seating area, (down the back near the window) a bit dark! Staff pleasant and all good! Nice place, thank you!

Went here Saturday night (18th Feb) for a night out with friends and family. Restaurant was full (pleased that booked in advance) and atmosphere was great. Food good, service good and didn't wait too long between courses despite being busy. All in all a good experience and well recommended.

This restaurant has been here for many years. The food is very good and it is always busy. Well worth a visit if you have not been before. Not cheap mind but not expensive.

Description
Marco Polo is an Italian bistro that is celebrating its 42nd year of trading. We are an independent restaurant and locally owed. We offer a wide range of pizza/pasta and consider this to be our bread and butter. However we really come in to our own on the a la carte side of the menu. All our dishes are prepared on site and deliver extremely good value. The restaurant is always busy and has great atmosphere. We can cater for most requests. We take reservations and also hold a number of tables back for walk-in custom. So if you're passing pop in.
