Attended as a party of four and we had a selection of tapas between us. The atmosphere was lovely, as always, the staff were very attentive and our server was able to recommend a few options to us when we were a little unsure. Each of the tapas that we has was very nice. Personal recommendations would be the Chorizo... More

We've here a couple of times now. Both at busy times before the rugby (World Cup) and a Newcastle game - the restaurant is close to St James Park. Both times the staff have been good and the atmosphere low key/casual but nice. The first time we came the food was excellent. You can pay for a set menu, starting... More

I have passed this place many times, thinking it was always empty when looking in, until my daughter, informedme that you need to enter and walk to the back, this is a little gem hidden back there, mainly tapas we decided on the special for £15.95 each, 10 tapas ( 4 cold ) all up to standard as other tapas... Not at all impressed with this place. Definitely quantity over quality and taste. Tapas really lacking in any flavour or seasoning and overly greasy. I love Spanish flavours but this one is a miss for me.

Good service but average food and in some cases not value for money. We found most dishes to be greasy or lacking flavour. Paella was mainly rice and very little protein, wasn't impressed at £50 for 4 people for a bowl of mostly rice.

El Coto always deliver amazing food, regardless of how busy they are. Although they can get busy at weekends, they're always welcoming and try to accommodate you even if you haven't made a reservation. They have an extensive menu, and the set menus are great. They offer a good selection of drinks. The staff are friendly and professional. Although the... More

Arrived with a group of colleagues and was a little apprehensive as the front of the restaurant was empty. I needn't of worried as we walked towards the rear and were immediately welcomed. Service was friendly and attentive. The food was stunning and dishes (from the set menu) brought out in good pace with the table's consumption. A great authentic... More

Hadn't booked, was greeted by a lovely friendly lady and taken to a table for two. Decided to eat from the set menu and it was absolutely delicious - best tapas I have eaten for a long time. Service was very friendly, a lovely lady looked after us. Fabulous night out for a couple. Would recommend!
