I've been coming to this restaurant for the best part of a decade at least! I have enjoyed the food here and they've only ever gotten the food wrong once. The food is freshly cooked. The staff are not only kind, patient, but beautiful people. I appreciate being asked where to sit. That is very important to me. I think... More

Visited at lunchtime, the entrance is quite off putting, but it was quiet probably in an evening it gives a different vibe. However once we were in the restaurant proper we were given a warm welcome. We chose the lunchtime special -3 tapas for £10.95 accompanied by a very nice rioja

It was our first night in Newcastle and we were clueless. After some deliberation and googling we decided on one of Newcastle's highest rated Spanish restaurants, judging by a quick look on that internet they have nowadays. (Admittedly, there didn't seem to be a phenomenal selection of Spanish eateries in the Toon so that may not be much of an... More

The portions for our visit were pretty big and most were well-flavoured, enticing and with a home made taste. All our chosen dishes arrived at almost the same time which was a bit disconcerting since it did not give us time to savour each dish as we might otherwise have done. Perhaps it was a coincidence of the dishes we... More

El Coto on a Friday night with the kids. Settled for the set meal for 3. Selection of tapas including old standards like Patas Bravas, Serrano Ham, Manchego cheese, chorizo etc. Unfortunately for me all a bit bland. The hot dishes varied in quality, the pork in mustard sauce was quite tasty. the beef stew was rather bland and the... More

Excellent meal and very good service, wine very good and complemented the food very well, Only downside was the loo! Hot water taps not in use and no hand sanitizer and very smelly, Not nice. Glad I only went as we were leaving.

This is a cafe style tapas restaurant, which is noisy due to groups socializing but, even so, as a couple we still had a lovely time. The portion sizes are generous and we only got 5 dishes between us and it was more than enough. The house red wine didn't disappoint and the bill was very reasonable. Would recommend.

A while since we have been to this restaurant and it is still as good as ever. Daytime special of 3 tapas for £10.95 excellent value and the choice of dishes is excellent. We had the bread and garlic alioli, bread was lovely fresh and crunchy and the dip was too die for and plentiful. A beautiful salad which was... More
