Group of friends went to 24 carat bistro in jewellery quarter.. we decided to go there because of the positive feedback it had. To be Frank we were very disappointed and we will not be going back. The bistro itself us very small which is...not a problem but the decor is very old ,tired looking and out dated. It definitely needs some TLC. We has had a vegan and a vegetarian vegetarian with us. We had the set menu with very little options for our non meat eaters. When we asked about the mutton soup she said it was not made fresh and was made on Wednesday and it was frozen..to our horror we decided not no have it so had meat platters. Long wait for it and was very disappointed when it came..nothing seemed fresh ...we didn't have a full chicken wing..not even half of curry pattie and the dumpling wasn't fresh....Good presentation though. The main courses varied from akee are and saltfish, curry Murton and oxtail..and rice . With the curry mutton I counted 6 pieces of meat on my plate..no veg or coleslaw ...very disappointed vegetarian and vegan option drew the short straw... Sadly no one enjoyed there meal but ate it because we were all hungry..I skipped dessert while the others had there's. Unfortunately the evening was only great because of the company but not the meal..I really don't think the jamaican food was authentic..Has a black British with West Indian parents the food I feel was catered for the English palate and was bland with no kick of taste flavour...it nothing pleasant to rember.. The only positive thing I can say that it's a family ram business and the front if house which I can assume was the wife was very pleasant and attentive..I think she knew we wasn't happy and kept on asking us if we were OK to which we replied yes.. Sadly we will not be returning. ..but we do wish them well..I feel that they should remove the soup from the menu ..because frozen 3 day soup is not acceptable or healthy to serve to customers..also add more jamaican authentic spices...along with more vegan and vegetarian options..overall the food was bland and not flavoursome and it was mainly for the plalate of those customers who have not experience jamaican food before. Has a black diner, that was not jamaican snd I feel that other black diners would also feel the same way.More

Down a little alley way in the jewellery quarter brought three of us to 24 carat bistro and I’m so glad it did! Jan had helped on the phone with our booking and looked after us on our night out. We had the set menu...which is amazing value for money. So tempted by what was on offer on the menu-we also ordered a goat curry main as an extra-I know gluttons but in our defence we ate everything Jan served to us. Various cocktails and a bottle of good simple wine washed down our meal and 24 Carat has put itself firmly in the “one we’d go back to” category. Two things make a great night out-amazing food and great service-24 carat delivered in abundance. Big thanks to Jan and her husband along with the rest of the team for brilliant food and service. Had only recently heard of this restaurant despite finding out during our meal that they’ve been here for 20 years! It’s a small and cosy spot, almost like dining in someone’s dining room at home and the food menu reflects this too - you can...imagine these dishes being served in a Caribbean home. But these dishes are delivered with a bit more elegance - nicely presented and full of flavour. I went for the goat curry with rice and peas, and it was delicious. Also got to taste the ribs and they were packed with flavour. Plenty of rum drinks available - I’m not a rum fan but after a couple of the rum punches, even the most resistant customer can be converted! Will be returning and recommending to others.More

My wife and I were visiting the Jewellery District and were passing this bistro at lunchtime. So, we called in for lunch. We had a great experience. Really good food and drink, great service and lots of helpful advice.

This is a great place to check out, not that far from the centre of town and worth the visit. The flavours really punch out and is so much better than anything bigger and more mainstream restaurants can offer. I heartily recommend the Cajun Prawns...as a starter. So happy to see this place still open after the pandemic. The food is still fantastic and the owners always welcome you as if you’re an old friend visiting. It’s tucked away down an unassuming alley, the first time you find it you’ll feel like...you’re discovering something unknown. And then when you inevitably return with friends you will feel like an all knowing guide sharing a secret of the JQ.
