Been for several tasting dining experiences. Food was fabulous and service faultless. Comparing to other experiences it didn't overwhelm and I think this was purely due to the overall lack in ambience and uncomfortable and unintimate seating arrangements. Needs to be a bit less bright...with more intimate seating arrangements when spending a lot of money on a fine dining experience. I don't really want to be hearing the next tables conversations and phone calls. It's the little touches that it was missing.More

Had the tasting menu.What can I say ,amazing! Food is absolutely sublime, every course is a taste adventure from start to finish.Cheese and pineapple on a stick so clever, thought the brulee in the egg was fab but it was followed by that divine mint...choccy chip ! Everyone should save up and go !! The staff are all lovely too and it is great to see the man himself in the kitchen, not just name on the door.Thankou Mr Purnell, keep doing what you do !More

First visit post Covid. Excellent starter and dessert. Appetisers stolid, neck of lamb main okayish. Service enthusiastic but amateurish. No breads until after the starter bizarrely. £185 for 2 . It is still 1 star quality but we have better options in Birmingham

Just had lunch at Purnells today, had the tasting menu, very disappointed with the content of the whole meal ,felt very rushed until the 4th course, dishes were average at best, presentation poor, staff were not of the standard I have come to expect at...similar 1 star Michelin establishments. Not once were we asked how were our courses until after we had finished by then too late, my partner found a bone in her sea bass dish, this can happen I admit but if you are paying £110 for a tasting menu and the portion size is somewhat smaller, then why is this being missed, we were given glasses of red wine and dessert wine free of charge as compensation, but really not good enough for the prices being asked, desserts were the best dishes of the day by far, but by then was too late, I for one will not be returning to the yummy brummie, anytime soon , every review is obviously subjective and this is only my opinion, but for the prices charged just not good enough ,very very disappointing lunch.More

Thank you so much Glynn and your team. We have been treated like royalty today and eaten like Kings. Amelia and Justin made our visit very special. Favourite dish cheese and pineapple.
