Busy pub and not massively pricey. A good choice of beers, cider, wines and spirits. A must for foreign visitors to see a traditional English pub and enjoy its atmosphere.

My girlfriend and I went to the Red Lion on Friday 14th July for dinner. We had previously stopped by for a quick bite and had been impressed so decided to come here having considered all other restaurants/pubs in Arundel. We booked a table and...More

After checking a couple of tea rooms and finding them too full opted for a pub lunch. Was a good choice as there were 5 of us. We had cream cheese and smoked salmon and a toasted club on malted brown both with a side...More

Had a meal is this pub/restaurant one evening. I ordered the steak and ale pie, with chips and vegetables. The pie was awful. I have never tasted anything with as much salt in, I was unable to finish it. I waited about 25 mins for...More

I can't believe I am giving a pub 5-stars, but it really was a great food find. We ended up eating here twice. Had fish and chips, pie of the day, ploughmans platter and a starter. Pie was the best of our 10-day trip and...More

My wife and I stopped off at this nice pub for Sunday lunch. We both ordered the roast lamb which came with a nice selection of vegetables. We were both full and so didn't have room for the desert. This pub has a nice garden/patio...More

We just popped in for a quick bite in this lovely traditional pub with a pleasant friendly and unassuming atmosphere. The cheese sharing platter was conceptually interesting and very nice although I'm not sure it quite lived up to its billing. It might be improved...More

A typical English pub, serving large portions of pub grub. The pub is in the Arundel Market Square and is central to the town. You need a good appetite.

Description
I visited this restaurant with my husband and two adult children and daughter in law. We tried to find somewhere in Arundel to have lunch at 2.30 nearly everywhere was closed. This restaurant was open.
The seating was not very comfortable and to be honest it did not smell very nice, but we had already ordered our drink so it was difficult to leave! I had asked for sausages and mash (but asked if the mash was made with butter - the bar person enquired and came back and said that it was made yesterday and the person who made it was not in! so he could not say! I had chips instead. So I had sausages and chips with runner beans which were cold. The sausage were not at all hot but we waited quite a while and so I did not complain. My son and daughter in law had steak and it was full of grissle and they brought the most horrible looking large mushrooms swimming in oil which dripped over the table. My daughter had a very indifferent hamburger, We felt the whole experience was bad and a waste of money I would never go there again!!!
