Very good meal and excellent service. The pub is steeped in history and the 'hand' is a great tourist feature. The toilets are a disgrace unfortunately!

Very polite service, interesting ambiance and long wait for food. We ordered Shepard's Pie with minced venison as special of the day which was not a pie, rather a soup cooked in a bowl. It contained a very small amount of venison and lots of...More

This Pub was recommended by the Hosts at our B&B and they couldn't have been more accurate in the description. Quaint old pub, probably at least 700 years old. The drinks were good, but the food even better. Several different dishes with Venison. I had...More

A beautiful old building very characterful. We had a 2 course lunch in the upstairs restaurant. The food was very well presented & delicious. Friendly & efficient staff. Excellent value for money would recommend.

I was visiting Salisbury as a bit of a nostalgia trip and stumbled across the Haunch of Venison. I'd come across it on the internet before and decided to try a couple of their real ales. I only had drinks and it is rather expensive,...More

Lovely traditional English pub with great selection of drinks. Disappointing there is no food. Be warned this is very small so may be standing room only . A must visit pub in Salisbury.. .. ask about the hand!

From the pewter bar as you walk into the pub to the downstairs nooks and crannies to the lovely rooms in the 2nd floor, this place exudes history! We headed to the large upstairs room with fireplace overlooking Minster Street for a cozy table for...More

We have visited the Haunch on several occasions for a drink and dinner. It has a hidden gem and truly worth a visit. Full of history and character, great food and such a friendly and efficient team. We will definitely be back!

One of the city's most historic pub, and listed on CAMRA's National Inventory as one of the most historic interiors in the UK, The Haunch is packed with history, reputedly haunted by the ghost of the cheating card player, whose mummified hand is displayed in the upper 'House of Lords' Bar, with the snug 'Horsebox' allegedly the meeting place of Churchill and Eisenhower whilst planning the D-Day landings! With a spacious first floor restaurant, and a recent ownership change, The Merchant's House dining room on the first floor (entrance through pub) features a contemporary British menu specializing in local ingredients which include our famous venison casserole, superb selection of local meats and fish. Complemented with a specialist whiskey list, fine wine list and local hand - pulled real ales, as well as very friendly service, The Haunch is a definite 'must see' on your visit to Salisbury!
