Had a wonderfully tender and tasty pulled venison burger for lunch with excellent sweet potato fries. Old style pub on ground floor and atmospheric rooms for dining upstairs. Well worth a visit

Fabulously old with appropriately warped and creaky floors and stairs with nice ambience, friendly staff and good food - we had set price lunch and it was all very tasty and filling. Really enjoyed it.

Popped in for a pit stop whilst visiting Salisbury a warm welcome their menu looks fabulous and a good architectural example of a 1320 bygone era, friendly chat from locals, would certainly recommend a visit, will return next time in Salisbury.

There were three roaring log fires, in this wonderful historic pub on a quiet Monday lunchtime. Please dont change anything, the food (Venison cottage pie) and the beer (summer lightning) were fantastic beside the fire. Love the fact that Churchill and Eisenhower drank here before...More

What a great pub !! In the heart of The City. Quaint and friendly - definitely worth a visit even if just for a quick drink. And a wonderful history to the building and it’s former use!!

This place has a lot of character, nice small pub in the centre of town offering all you need and great food too. Recommended.

Came here for lunch while in holiday from the USA per recommendation of an employee at Stonehenge. The building is fantastic and feels like stepping into an old pirate hangout. The food here is amazing and very flavorful. Definitely worth checking out!

The setting is beautiful. We had a romantic two course meal. The restaurant wasn’t busy but yet we had to wait some time to even put in our drinks order. No one came to check out starters were ok and they were not. I had...More

We chose The Haunch of Venison because of its pretty good reviews and convenience to the City centre. We must have caught them on a bad day. This was a family lunch, six people and we had made a reservation for 13:00. We were seated...More

One of the city's most historic pub, and listed on CAMRA's National Inventory as one of the most historic interiors in the UK, The Haunch is packed with history, reputedly haunted by the ghost of the cheating card player, whose mummified hand is displayed in the upper 'House of Lords' Bar, with the snug 'Horsebox' allegedly the meeting place of Churchill and Eisenhower whilst planning the D-Day landings! With a spacious first floor restaurant, and a recent ownership change, The Merchant's House dining room on the first floor (entrance through pub) features a contemporary British menu specializing in local ingredients which include our famous venison casserole, superb selection of local meats and fish. Complemented with a specialist whiskey list, fine wine list and local hand - pulled real ales, as well as very friendly service, The Haunch is a definite 'must see' on your visit to Salisbury!
