Been past a couple of times, and were prompted to try it after good recommendation from a family friend. We arrived early so were the first customers there, but it soon got busier. The Sunday lunch is a set menu, but the meal was excellent. We rarely have starters, but the vegetable soup was delicious. For the main course, it... More

What a fantastic little inn... Hidden away on the mountain we were taken to this little treasure by friends we were visiting.. The car park was full which is an obvious sign of a good place.. On entering it was like stepping back in time to an old style pub.. This is not a negative it was so nice to... More

The best steaks around. The bar is closed but if you're not eating, you can go in and watch a bit of TV by invitation. Landlord is super friendly.

No nonsense approach, I camped and dined at the race-horse on the evening of the review left by sarahw2590. I must say the use of these younge ladies language, was appalling and could be heard from the lounge and they were seated in the bar. A younge French family sat at the adjacent table, the parents covered the children's ears,... More

Fawlty towers experience but the food is exceptional, home cooked and excellent value. Tried many local establishments for Sunday lunch before work and this is by far the best. Some could take offence to the proprietor when booking via telephone but he is very nice when you get there albeit not that cheerful. You have to be there 12.45 to... More

Although I am a local of the racehorse Inn and my family and I have been attending and doing vary business projects there I was not expecting the owner Ron 2 come out screaming at myself over some minor bad language. Also didn't expect him to catter for himself by turning the tv over from what we watching to what... More

Great place to eat and really friendly, Mandy was ever so helpful and provided us with the information we needed for the area. There is so much to do from Big pit, Rhymney brewery, Ironworks .....loads of walking, Blorenge Keppers pond etc. Mandy's dad make's a mean steak and great puddings, Sunday lunch is to die for. Not flashy, warm... More

An anniversary celebration was the reason for our most recent visit to the Racehorse and as usual, the food was excellent. The T-bone steak was very large, tender and perfectly cooked. The 7 meat mixed grill was also a huge plateful and all very nice. Nice choice of desserts too - many of them home made. This is a very... More
