Sat 21st Sept 2024.. took a trip out to Brecon and decided to try something new and different. Decided on the Gurkha Curry for an evening meal. My word, am I glad we did. The entrance looked a little obscure and we weren't sure it was the right place, but were reassured by a friendly welcoming smile and given our table. Seating is arranged that there is not a huge amount of room, but there was enough space and a cosy cubby for smaller groups and all was well sufficient for two rather larger framed people. Ordered Pyaj Pokora (vegetarian dish) and Cheese Kukhura for starters. Both dishes arrived in a short time but were perfectly cooked, hot, and delicious. If this was the starter, then the main course should be as good or better. Main courses were King Prawn Kosheli with Chyau Bhat and Aloo Tama Bodi (veggie)with Bhat... and Garlic naan. When the dishes arrived, I dipped into my King Prawn dish and found the most unbelievable coconut flavoured sauce to accompany the king prawns... so delicious that my partner, a vegetarian, partook in the sauce and the instant look on her face said that she found it equally as good. Both meals and both starters were absolutely fantastically tasting, cooked to perfection, and of a perfectly balanced size in volume.
Looking around, I saw others dishes and every one looked just as appetising as the other. There are two toilets near the entrance which are on the small size, but adequate. Both were immaculately clean at the time I was there. The whole place looked clean and the staff were well presented and most polite.
Having never eaten this kind of food before I would most certainly advise at least one visit. There is a good selection of starters and main courses for vegetarians. Access may be manageable for wheelchair users though the main and only entrance which was a little narrower than perhaps some wheelchairs would need.. There is a local authority carpark nearby that, being the forward-thinking Powys Council, offers FREE parking after 6pm.. what more do you need for a lovely evening and a fabulous meal.
Cost of two course meal for two people WITH drinks came to ÂŁ52.25.. great value
A place I would most definitely recommend and will re-visit when I find myself in Brecon once more.

This was very nice, stopped in as a family for lunch. The decor is simple and charming, I like the paintings and the service was attentive throughout. Portions were generous and the price was very reasonable. For 3 adults mains, starters, rice and one side with non alcoholic drinks we were just above ÂŁ80.
I had the Swadilo Tihun lamb which was very mild and flavoursome as I didnt fancy a lot of heat half way through the day , basmati and for me the 2 stars of the meal the pork momo and the lovely aloo zeera which is potato with cumin and spices. The momo was very good . Everyone in the party enjoyed their dishes and we would come here again.

Ordered a takeaway while staying in Brecon for a couple of days. Got a home delivery, which was bang on time with good text comms so we knew where driver was.
Food was superb, a mix of mild and hotter dishes with some great sides. If you need it even hotter (as I did), you can top up on cucumber chutney and chhop at the Nepalese Himali Spice grocery, just off the main car park by Morrisons!
All in all a great takeaway experience, a bit of a change from the usual Indian. Try the momos for a “Nepal meets China” hit!

I am sorry to say out of the hundreds of reviews I have written I have never had such an experience. This restaurant seemed to have decent reviews and came recommended by our hotel owner. I booked a table for 4 people at 8.30, we were not greeted well and seated by the bar. Within minutes we placed our order. And we waited, on arrival the restaurant seemed busy but it emptied very quickly snd there were only two tables us and another group of gentlemen. We asked where our starters were at 9.40 having waited an hour, they arrived at 10.05 and were horrible, microwaved and rubbery. Do not have the momo’s the prawn starter was tasteless. We again had to ask for the mains and we’re told 10 minutes at 10.20, this was a joke no apology, no offer of a reduced bill. I got up and told them we were leaving as it was disgusting to make a customer wait for 1.40 for food to my horror and that of my guests, instead of an apology the owner asked us to leave. Which we promptly did, on the way out the other table told us they waited 1.30 hrs for their food and it was not worth the wait. I have never been treated at any venue in such a manner, being diabetic and not having got any food I was very very Ill on my return to our room. I would say avoid this place, the Thai or Indian restaurant all in a short walk offered much better food and service

So there we are my not girlfriend and I (in joke, but she'll read this), having spent about 4-5 hours trekking around Brecon and surviving on a cheese string, 18 pieces of corn and a bottle of water. Needless to say we were pretty tired and hungry. It was about 26 degrees outside so what better way to cool off than a relaxing dip in a pool, or river. Unfortunately, despite there being no better way to cool down than a relaxing dip, we opted to go for a curry at The Gurkha Corner. Not content with just going for a curry, we also, never having tried Nepalese food before, ordered what felt like the hottest currys in Brecon. Despite this, the food was incredible. My not girlfriend is a vegetarian, and as a result of her beautiful nature and temperament, she allows me to eat chicken. We were both well catered for. The paneer was perfect and my dish was perfectly cooked, accompanied by an exquisite naan bread. Service was perfect, with the staff being attentive but at the same time giving us time and space. There was a good atmosphere with a lovely couple commendeering the secluded corner table to have some privacy whilst they snogged. In any case, after sweating our way through our amazing food, and utilising the complimentary napkins for our runny noses (romantic) we left satiated and very happy with our experience. Very highly recommended.

Dived in here on a Friday evening and it was very busy with a pretty large and loud birthday party going on, but they found us a table. The food took a while to arrive, but when it did we weren't disappointed, the Nepali food was excellent and quite different from the bog standard high street curry house. The staff were lovely, considering how busy they were. Would definitely go again.

What a gem.. Delicious food! This is a very special find with traditional Gurkha home made curries and momos.. some of the best I've ever eaten.
If you've been to Nepal then the flavours bring back fond memories, for me this was a most unexpected surprise to find in Wales.
We were looking for an Indian restaurant and smelt this place driving past.. I'm so happy we stopped in. There was a childrens menu too so our 5 & 2 year olds were very happy with their sausages and chicken as well.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, the prices are very good and the golf club running there makes it all the more curious. We had the best meal and will definitely return.

Had a lovely evening meal here last week. The restaurant looks unimpressive from the outside but we found it very welcoming inside. They had lots of different dishes on the menu and staff were very friendly and gave us advice . My dish contained fenugreek which I was unfamiliar with. I was brought a sample from the kitchen and given some to take home with me. My husband chose a nettle dish which was equally delicious. Highly recommended and would definitely revisit if in the area.

We visited yesterday for dinner, we read many reviews before going, and wrongly trusted them, so we decided to go. We ordered a bottle of water for the table, the waitress brought us instead four glasses of tap water with ice cubes, apologising as apparently they didn't have any big bottle of water, fair enough it could happen. Maybe check with us before assuming it's ok, but never mind! We then proceeded with the main, not only I found an eyelash in my steamed rice, I didn't say anything as again I thought it could happen!, but then I also found a hair in my prawn dish! When I called the waitress she was trying to tell me it was from the garlic, insulting my intelligence as I can tell the difference from a human hair and garlic! She then basically took my plate away, I am pretty sure he poured the content of it in another container, to make it look different, and warmed it up, the whole operation took literally a couple of minutes!, and then came back with it and a bowl of rice on the house. It goes without saying I didn't even touch it. To top it all off, once we were given the bill, we were charge for four small bottles of water which apparently in this "restaurant" they are used to open at the bar, pour directly in to a glass, and serve them at the table. As far as I know, they could have filled my water from the toilet!! I have never seen this happening before, we were all shocked by it! After complaining, obviously, we were refunded, at least for the water, but no mention of the hair incident! An appalling experience which I hope, once you have read this, you don't have the misfortune to undergo! Spend your time and money somewhere else!

We called in for lunch whilst visiting Brecon. Although we waited a fair time for the food, 30 minutes for the starters of mo mo, (dim sum) it was worth the wait and the entire meal was excellent and freshly cooked.
My partner had Lamb Nettle Curry and I had Chicken Korma. Delicious. We left full.
The waiter was very chatty and friendly, telling us about Nepal whilst I admired the lovely picture on the wall of snow covered mountains and yaks.
We recommend this restaurant and will call in again when in the area.

My wife and I made a booking for 7 pm on Saturday 17th September for this restaurant and turned up at the allotted time. First impression was of a small cramped room perhaps ten or so tables all full of customers bar two.
We were sat at one table right by the bar right in the way of everyone moving back and forth and the constantly opening door by people collecting takeaways. The other empty table was then occupied by another couple who came after us.
The restaurant appeared to be operated by one older man who was under pressure (Or appeared to be) and three very young men acting as waiters who from observation appeared to be new to their roles.
We ordered drinks which came quickly and by 19.10 placed our food order, two courses starters and main course.
At 19.50 (forty minutes later) still no sign of any food although the people who came in after us had eaten their starters and were getting a bit grumpy as they were waiting for their main courses.
We spoke to a waiter who went to the kitchen and came back and said five minutes,
At 20.10 one hour after placing our order still nothing so we asked for the bill for the drinks we had had and left. For accuracy there was no apology of any sort, no one seemed to care however they didn't raise a bill for the one drink we had had each. Another table behind us said they had been waiting an hour and a half, how true that was I do not know.
During our time there there was a constant flow of people coming in ordering and receiving take away meals however one guy who walked in with us also waited an hour for his takeaway and he was getting very grumpy seeing others come and go before him.
So my observations;
An untrained staff who didn't really appear to know what they were doing.
The older man in charge appeared grumpy and uncaring about his customers.
Obviously a badly organised kitchen who didn't control the order of customer orders.
A priority given to take away customers instead of dealing with the customers sat in the restaurant.
The owner needs to decide if he is running a restaurant or a takeaway. It appears he doesn't know.
Just a badly run establishment which was very disappointing.
Will we go back? absolutely not, would I recommend this restaurant to anyone? absolutely not.

One of my worst restaurant experiences. It is a small restaurant, and when we were there, the whole restaurant was waiting for over more than 2 hours to get their food. In the meanwhile, continuously takeaways were getting their food. Apparently, there was time to cook for the takeaways, but not for the people in the restaurant. Eventually left the restaurant after paying for our drinks. Only few excuses from the owner but not even the intention to compensate anything for the unacceptable waiting time. Went to the Thai restaurant and had a splendid diner after all.

This restaurant has great reviews so we were keen to try but sadly definitely a bit let down.
My onion pea and mustard seed rice had carrots and peas and literally two mustard seeds in. Both rices were quite soggy at the bottom of the dish.
Curry’s were very average, like a Tesco curry.
Bread was nice and drinks and curries cheap.
I would say this seemed like a place definitely trying to get by on cheaper ingredients.
Our waiter seemed miserable too.
Oh well. Maybe an off night but we wouldn’t go back again in a hurry.

Dropped in early evening on a Sunday to find a busy restaurant for a tasty dinner. Called in without a reservation and provided with a cosy table. We had the Khursani Kulhara, a chilli chicken dish with a BBQ flavour and the Gurkha Special Khana, a medium curry with chicken, lamb and a boiled egg. We had a lentil, a saag, rice and a naan for side. Washed down with a couple of Gurkha beers. Really great way to round off a day in the Brecon Beacons.

Mediocre food. The service is just terrible.
There was a hair in one of our plate, the waitress claimed it was a piece of garlic. Unbelievable.
After our complain, they got us the same plate back after literally 30 seconds. We do believe it was the same dish.
In the end they also charged, as extra, 4 small bottles of water. When we complained about it, the waiter claimed that he actually brought us 4 glasses of water that was spilled from 4 bottles. Unbelievable.
