We decided to try The Chilli House after reading positive reviews here and elsewhere. So very glad we did. The restaurant is small and basic, but clean and comfortable. The restaurant does not appear to be wheelchair accessible and the toilets are up a long, steep flight of stairs - challenging for those with mobility issues. The waiting staff are polite, knowledgeable and helpful. We love authentic Chinese food, but don't speak or read mandarin. The traditional dishes are pictured, but have no English translation of the ingredients. We asked for help and were soon tucking in to some of the tastiest pork, aubergine and fine green beans dishes we’ve ever eaten. We like it hot, hot, hot and were not disappointed. Just explain what you want and the staff will do their best to supply. Extra steamed rice was on the house. There was no service charge added to the very affordable bill and, when we offered a tip, our server said there was no charge for service and seemed slightly offended that we should offer! We are new regulars.

Great and authentic Chinese food - but if you're not Chinese you'll have to persuade them that you do want your food spicy! There is an English menu, but the Chinese menu is bigger and has the good stuff - you can use the Google translate app. Waiting staff are friendly, though not all speak English. Inside is basic but the food is more important here! Try the chili beef, and the aubergine side dish.

Was on holiday in Belfast and popped into this restaurant, without reviewing about it.
In this case, it was truly an awesome move.
The service & meal was 110%!!
Well recommended, so don't be put off by its basic layout, as The Chilly House is truly a hidden gem and my satisfied stomach can confirm that . .Hmmm!!
It's a pity we have to go home now.. 😕😊

Unprofessional, went to Chilli House twice with friend, the same Chinese girl staff served us, she was very rude to us, when taking our orders, she talked back at us, telling us not to speak too fast and that she couldn’t take down the orders, in a really rude, unfriendly and impatient tone. When serving the food, she served the food so hardly that our table was pushed back to the wall. She also rushed us with our bill when it was not even close to their closing hours. However, she was racist by discriminating Asians, she was also rude to other tables who were also Asians, but she turned really nice and friendly when a white man went over to the counter for payment. Never going back as it happened twice, really disappointed!

My friends and I ordered food online, the chilli house were quite nice on the phone but we got our food back and the order was almost completely wrong. We complained and the manager was very unaccommodating with our incorrect order, blaming us for ordering the wrong thing even though we knew exactly what we ordered. After getting nowhere with that we decided to just eat the food. Halfway after eating the food, I find a piece of metal in my duck curry. Very appalling experience and a FOOD HEALTH HAZARD. 2 menus are available with the typical NI Chinese menu in English and the more authentic Chinese options in mandarin. We really wanted to the try authentic options but unfortunately we had to try and translate it on our phones. The staff were friendly and assisted us. We were told the tofu would come with a sour sauce but it ended up just being squidgy tofu in bisto gravy, very disappointing. The chili beef bowl was ok, but I'd be in no rush back. The other customers were given chopsticks, small spoons and plates but we weren't given these.

The reviews are probably on point, however in the case of our meal (Chili Chicken), there was barely any meat at all, it was all chopped up pieces which includes tiny bones, sinew et al.. The portion size was very good, but unless you are prepared to carefully dissect each morsel to the point of it being suitable to digest then for me it was a huge disappointment. BYOB (£2 corkage fee Wine, and £1 per beer) *2 stars are for the crispy coating as it was bangin'

Really authentic Szechuan food and great value but cash only. Had the special - chicken and green beans which is unreal, one of the nicest Chinese dishes I've ever tried.

Unusual spicy Chinese food, this place is usually full of Asian students, always a good sign. Ask for the Chinese menu and chose with the pictures, much more interesting dishes compare to the English menu.

This is an unassuming little place that you could easily walk by and miss. Don't. The food is very tasty and portion sizes are more than enough. Prices are very reasonable and I look forward to returning.

While looking for a place to eat before a movie at the cinema, we wandered down Dublin Road and found our way into this wee place. The staff was friendly, efficient and welcoming. The food was phenomenal! We ordered beef black bean curry, sweet and sour pork, and chicken fried rice. The portions were massive! We had to pack up the leftovers, which doesn't happen too often. I was thoroughly impressed by and stuffed to the brim with our delicious meal. Definitely a must visit.

Went in and ordered a beef curry and boiled rice takeaway!! Menu said £6.50 the two young girls working there tried to charge me £8.50?? They now what they was doing!! Be careful how much they charge you !!!! Food was nice

We are very sorry that you experienced such situation. The girls were new part-timers which mistook the pricing. The manager then realized the mistake and rectified it by returning £2 on the spot. We will be more cautious in the future and train our part timers so that this mistake will not reoccur. I hope that this will not ruin your whole experience in our restaurant. Thank you very much and your kind understanding is much appreciated.

I have eaten here twice in the last two months. The service and the food are excellent and I would highly recommend the establishment. The curry was perfect and the noodles cooked to perfection (yes, curry and noodles). Well worth a visit.

While on a late conference call and feeling super hungry, I searched for the nearest restaurant. The Chilli House was only two doors away. After checking out the menu online I walked there to place a takeaway order. The young woman who initially helped me couldn't speak English (but assumed I could speak Mandarin because I am Chinese). While she went to find someone who could help me, I picked up a menu -- that was all in Chinese. I looked around -- all the diners were Chinese. I started to feel pretty good about my choice in restaurant but my expectations were still low (that's what happens when you travel a lot for business). I ordered my go-to favorite spicy tofu and to my surprise it was amongst the best I've ever had. My pork dumplings were also delicious. Having eaten at various places in China and in some of the best Chinese restaurants in Richmond BC, I was really impressed with The Chilli House's food and wished I had discovered this place on my first night vs. my last night in Belfast. I would have eaten here every single meal if I could have. It's a small business with a limited staff -- at least one of whom isn't fluent in English -- so adjust your expectations on that front. The food is worth it!
