The oldest structure in Belfast (1711) and amazing food at a relatively reasonable price. Didn't have the steak over volcanic rock and should have because it's their signature dish. Was jet lagged and sleep deprived so I didn't want to have the best thing on the menu when you wasn't totally fresh. The chicken was excellent. Carrot soup with delicious.... More

We were there just for a drink at first. We just arrived in Belfast, it was the first pub we stopped. After our pint, we went around Belfast city center to find a place to eat, but after a while we came back at McHughs because we didn't find anything else with that great ambiance . We went upstairs for... More

Our tour bus driver recommended this pub for a late lunch. We went on a Saturday. We arrived about 3 PM and were pleasantly surprised by an outstanding Irish music session there. Food and service were outstanding. We had to be out of there in about an hour and the food came out promptly and just like we ordered it.... More

Main course pork was excellent. Service was very friendly and helpful. Portion size was ok as far as I was concerned and prices were reasonable. We had a wonderful evening.

Advertised as the oldest pub in Belfast which gave us high expectations. We were not disappointed: great pub, great service and good food. Plenty of choice of beers and spirits, nice to blend with the locals!

Our favourite pub time is afternoon/early evening, not too big a place, warm homely atmosphere, no loud music, and decent pub food. McHugh's ticks all these boxes. Genuine welcome, attentive staff, very good atmosphere in what claims to be Belfast's oldest building still substantially in its original state. The bar menu makes much of Boxty, a traditional fried potato cake,... More

We have eaten in McHugh's on a number of occasions and have always left very satisfied, however our most recent visit was a complete let down. I ordered a Study of Irish Pork (Belly, Cutlet, Loin, Black & White Pudding, Mash & a Cider Jus) It sounded amazing, however what arrived was tiny. More mash than anything else and there... More

Called in here for lunch last Saturday and was very disappointed. the service was awful to say the least.....and we seemed to have 4 different servers. The first got the drink order wrong and the second and third didn't know what the soup of the day or the pie of the day was (surely can't be that difficult??). When the... More

we went twice - for drinks and for a meal. Great on both occasions. The pub itself is worth a visit - fantastic place to go. Excellent food and plenty of choice. This is a definite pub to visit in a city that has many great pubs.
