We both had a starter and a main. Before that, one slice of bread and the mandatory amuse bouche (which was pretty nice). My starter, a ceviche, was not bad - but I had far better ceviches in other venues before. My wife's beetroot panna...More

This is a lovely restaurant with high quality food served in a very modern way. It is a bit out of the way near the beach at the exit to the harbour and you must drive there or get a taxi, not the sort of...More

Business lunch with, as always ,faultless service and fabulous sea food all provided at a very reasonable price. In my opinion Silver Darling is the best restaurant in Aberdeen by miles

A dull and blustery day rather spoiled the normally awesome view but this in no way detracted from our delicious lunch. The staff are lovely and are friendly but not intrusive. The egg and chorizo starter went down a treat, as did the salmon risotto....More

Love where Silver Darling is located. Very nice overlooking Aberdeen beach I would imagine. Or should I say North Sea? Yea, I said "I would imagine" because we were there for dinner in February so it's pretty dark. But had a "tickle" experience when a...More

Very nice setting overlooking the port entrance. Good seafood options and helpful staff. Scallops for starter were excellent and a good size. Venison ordered medium rare was closer to medium well which was disappointing as it was cut in half by the chef before serving...More

I love this place admittedly sometimes the staff can be a hit or miss! But that aside the meal always more than makes up for that! The amuse bouche is a classic example of how an amuse bouche should be served an introduction to the...More

Visited twice recently for lunch. The location is the star, the service is impeccable, the menu concise...imaginative, reasonably priced and well executed. Only real complaint was that my dessert was very dry and could have been improved with the addition of more contrasting texture.

We had a fab meal at Silver Darling. We visited at lunch time - service, food and surroundings were excellent. The venue's setting is spectacular, especially on the beautiful day we were there. The dolphins' display at the harbour mouth just added to the enjoyment.

Is there a dress code and can I book a table for one in a sea view position, Saturday evening after a visit to the HMT matinee performance?

No dress code, smart casual, table overlooking harbour would be my choice too, watching pilot boats guiding the ships in

It's a tricky choice! With the harbor view, you are looking over the mouth of the harbor to Balnagask and beyond. You get a great view of anything moving in and out of the harbor and can see quite a bit out to sea. On the... More

Description
Named after a local term for herring, Silver Darling makes the most of a superb spot at the entrance of Aberdeen harbour. Built on the flat roof of the old customs house, the conservatory style restaurant commands panoramic views of the Dee estuary one side, and the length of the beach and headland the other (summer sunsets are priceless). A classic French menu is a triumph of superbly presented dishes, singing with flavour. Three courses at dinner could start with oysters marinated with lime and Granny Smiths, followed by pan-fried Atlantic sea bream in red wine, and the dessert du jour.
