After booking a cottage in the village for a birthday weekend we scoured the reviews for somewhere to have an evening meal. The village is limited in terms of eating out and we didn't see any form of takeaway. The Masonic Arms came out on top and we pre booked although the Ship Inn looked nice but didn't do evening... I have been a 'regular' in 'The Masonic' for over 20 years now. This is by far the best pub in Kirkcudbright, especially for visitors. It has a wide range of beers and spirits, a log burning fire and a friendly atmosphere.

Absolutely fantastic! Welcoming on arrival, unrushed when ordering, beautiful food, and excellent service. We have been coming to the Masonic Arms for a long number of years, and even though only once a year on some occasions, it has always been consistently very good. We have a young son, and he was catered for equally as well. 5 stars and... More

Had sunday carvery 4 meats to choose from, i could not choose friendly chef offered all of them all cooked lovely choice of seasonal veg again well cooked, sat in conservatory area looking a bit tired inside although clean enough bit smokey inside due to log burner. Carvery £12.99 bit over priced although nicely presented.

We had a very good evening. The food was delicious. Service was exceptional. Childs portions are very good sized! The atmosphere was relaxed. The restaurant area is small and quiet... There is lots of space in the bar area! Dogs are welcome in the bar. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. We had a very good experience

Our last night in Dumfries the Masonic Arms came recommended. We were not disappointed I ordered the haddock my wife had the salmon both dishes were superb. Service was outstanding and nothing was to much bother. We finished up by sharing a cheese platter that would have served well as a main meal such was the range of cheeses on... More

We were looking for somewhere different to celebrate my father in laws 80th Birthday. When we arrived ,I was happily surprised how spacious the bar lounge was. We were quickly shown to a private and nicely decorated room with a long table set out for our party of 11. The space felt both intimate and spacious at the same time.... More

Wonderful pub, tucked away on a side street. Food is excellent value for money, huge portions and very tasty. Good selection of ales/ wines etc. Friendly staff, lovely log fire in main bar, lovely conservatory.. Definitely worth a visit you won't be disappointed...

Fantastic food and super friendly staff. Tonight they catered for my son who has a very special diet and it wasn't a problem at all. Can't wait to eat here again.
