An overnight stay in a good central location, the room was large & spacious with a queen sized bed. Very clean & warm, breakfast was extremely filling, service & staff very friendly & efficient, well worth a visit.

Food waiter and bar staff were excellent. The hotel is very interesting and packed full of fabulous photographs and other fine regimental items. We were there for a wedding and that part of the day was excellent. The only part that spoiled it was the fact that when I booked I punched Royal Scots Club into Google and it came... More

We were residents and invited guests to dine with us on strength of previous visits. Once again not disappointed, very good reasonably priced meal and efficient service.

I visited the Royal Scots Club for a Christmas lunch early December. Although the food was perfectly pleasant and eatable, it was also quite average and a bit like Christmas dinner at the in-laws. Well, the food that is - the company I was in made it a lovely night, but we could have spent the same amount elsewhere and... More

Stayed in this popular club using one of two four poster bedrooms. The ambience was very good, the food was good and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Would recommend and will be using again on our next visit to Edinburgh. Membership available to take advantage of extra savings and facilities.

Staying at a club is the nicest ...the hospitality and charm are something else. The Club is so centrally located..overlooking a lush green Queens Street park. The room was large, bright, airy and spacious and had a coffee maker!! The staff were nice and accommodated us with an early breakfast before we headed out for the day!

Old hotel with a lot of history complete with creaky floorboards. Lots of charming features. Lovely cooked breakfast kept me going until way past lunchtime. Great location for exploring Edinburgh.

We booked our table for a Saturday evening (it is closed on Sundays). The atmosphere in the dining room was classic and the service was very good. The food was also very good.

We booked to come here for dinner - although we are not members. Firstly its an outstanding venue - packed full of pictures/momentos of the Regiment's illustrious history - which continues to this day. You don't have to be a member to eat here - we weren't - and I suspect that the income from the room rentals/restaurant keeps the... More

If you think you'll like staying in a home rather than a hotel, thus is the place for you. Club Quarters for the Scottish military, apparently they only rent rooms to help cover costs. As you enter, you realise you must be on your best manners. The rooms are very large and are furnished almost 19th century, except for the... More

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
