We had a great late breakfast here the food was superb the location lovely too. The service we received was good too. The only complaint was it could be warmer inside we all felt it was cold. We enjoyed and will return.

We popped in to get warm whilst walking along the beach! A noisy place but only because it is so popular. We had strawberry milk shakes that were excellent and very large! Facilities looked good (we didn't stay long) including board games.

Was originally heading for Cafe Miro but they were really busy so popped into Espy for lunch and we were glad that we did. Food was lovely, fresh and hot and the nicest chips I have had when eating out. Only little niggle was that service was a bit slow but I think the chef had taken ill so understandable.... More

I've been there repeatedly in the last few months and can only say that every experience has been wonderful. It can occasionally get a bit noisy, but that's only affirmation of how popular it is and how much people enjoy being there. I also appreciate that they're dog friendly and allow them in the "lounge" room. Oh, right, I guess... More

The food was excellent, only matched by the service. I came in looking for a table for one, during an extremely busy time, and they found a table for me with enthusiasm and without delay. I had the pan-fried hake with crushed potatoes, Stornoway black pudding and hollandaise sauce, and I can honestly say that I've rarely had white fish... More

Having climbed Arthur's Seat we were looking for somewhere to have a late lunch. We were really lucky to get a table for four as a party booked for 1pm had not turned up. The menu suits all tastes and food is freshly cooked. Big jugs of water were immediately brought to the table. Service was good and good was... More

Came here for breakfast with a friend over the weekend. We were not disappointed! We settled on the waffles with bacon, maple syrup and eggs. Did take around 30 minutes to come out, but as we were in no rush we didn't particularly mind. Service was good, attentive and friendly. Although, it does vary between staff. 2 outta 3 members... We did come for luch quite a few times. We love the sea view by the windows and the food in this place is quite good. The last time we have been at The Espy we have booked a table for 4 people and it was sunday lunch so very busy. We have been seated very close to the toilet.... More

Popped into the Espy this morning after a long and bracing walk with the dog along Porty beach. Was afforded a very warm welcome, a nice pint, a bowl of water for Kasper and a morning paper. Friendly staff, really nice atmosphere, will definitely be back.

We had friends visiting for the weekend and were on the lookout for dog friendly places for breakfast after a walk along the beach at Portobello, so I booked a table for Sunday morning. On arrival the staff very friendly and helpful and the breakfast ticked all the boxes and a bowl of water was even provided for our dog.... More
