This was a lovely place to stop and have lunch. The food was very well made, with a lot of traditional Scottish Dishes on the menu and it was at reasonable value too. Definitly worth stopping for your lunch, but its not a big place and some people started to queue as we were eating.

Visited many years ago as a student, so went back for a visit. Service was ok, food was eventually ok. Fish that was initially served was not cooked under the batter. Once pointed out they cooked a new fish which was perfect. Seems a popular place with the tourists.

The food is very good in this place, it is so good, that my family and I ate twice there in one week while visiting Edinburgh. Why the average rating you ask? Well, the service is terrible, or deplorable whichever is worst. The server took our order and we had to ask him for the drinks over and over. the... More

Came in just got drinks. Amazing atmosphere and a nice, cozy interior. Quite a good place to go to after a long walk exploring the city.

Various dog friendly search sites will show this as a dog friendly pub. Hence we planned our day to have a late lunch there......Wrong, no longer dog friendly. Initial excuse was due to hygiene. Sorry, that's not a reason! Ask the thousands of other dog friendly cafes and pubs who ALL sell food. Before using this excuse, learn what the... More

My family and I visited this pub while on holiday for an evening meal and we were delighted with what we found....... comfortable surroundings, gorgeous food which was reasonably priced and the most pleasant staff. Well done all at Greyfriars Bobby's pub.

Worth popping in here for a pint and some lunch. Nice friendly pub with pleasant interior decor. Bar and dining area. We did not eat here as we only came in for drinks but food looked good and there quite a few people eating at lunchtime. Good choice of beers, wines and spirits at good prices. Right opposite the Greyfriars... More

Severely disappointed - the mac n cheese I had was the best I've had but the service was non existent and the cheese and pickle sandwich my boyfriend had was so sad looking you'd get better from Boots or Tesco. It was also very odd tasting pickle.

The name of the pub gives away where it is. It's quite a small pub so if it's busy you may not get a seat (but on a nice day the best seats are ourside). The pub does food etc but I think this place is really for more of a pit stop then a longer stay unless eating. If... More

Because it was jammed to the rafters with people, that's a good thing, sign of a good place to eat, we didn't though, we went on up the road to another place that was quieter, I wouldn't put this place down, and will be back here again when it is quieter, and have a taste of what every one is... Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
