Each night I chose to eat fish, which was very good. Well presented, hot and tasty, with pleasant service

Overall I was very impressed with the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and polite. I associated the Braids with simple meaty food so I was pleasantly surprised to discover they had a vegan and vegetarian menu. The chef had never actually been asked to make the vegan options before so things were a little slow. However when the food... More

My husband ordered the Lamb dish and I ordered the Border beef (served pink). I did ask the waiter how pink the meat would be and he informed me that it had to be fairly rare as, if you overlook the meat it becomes tough. When the beef arrived it certainly was rare ( not pink, it was a definite... More

A great meal at a reasonable price, food was well cooked and staff were polite and friendly. We were not rushed and there is a good choice on the menu.

I was lucky enough to visit the attached hotel with work, and ate in the restaurant every night. During my stay, the menu changed and some new options were put on. A very welcome change to the older menu (which was still very nice!) and nice to see more vegetarian options added. Decided to forego a main course and instead... More

Excellent for dinner, wonderful regional dishes, artfully prepared. the selections included venison, pork, beef, and fish. All were nicely put together with well varied accompaniments. The goat cheese salad was beautiful; the steamed greens were very fresh. The wine list was very nice, and the after dinner coffee was perfect.

We ate here after reading previous reviews and boy were we disappointed! On arriving we were made to feel that they were doing us a favour by letting us dine here even though we were guests of this hotel. The waiter had no idea what the soup of the day was nor the daily specials. We ordered a bottle of... More
