Called here on Easter Sunday with my family after a long dog walk- only had drinks and snacks but Id come back for food. Staff were great and even looked after the dogs. Impressive given it was pretty busy and the staff must have been rushed off their feet-

Hi Stuart, We are delighted to hear that you had a pleasant Easter Sunday with us. We hope to provide a nice relaxing setting for both you and your dogs, and it's great to hear that we were meeting that standard during a busy weekend service. If you were to come back another Sunday, I would recommend trying our roast... More

Came to eat here on Thursday night and was greeted with Austen with greet service and she recommended us to come back on Sunday for a fantastic roast. We are back here on Sunday afternoon and could not have the most unpleasant opposite experience. Service is horrible with no one to help. We looked forward to eating here today but... More

Wow Eddie, what a disappointing review. It's not often we get poor reviews such as this, infact if you look back through the last few months, you'll see we get very few and I'm sure you'll see we pride ourselves on being the friendliest pub in Stockbridge. You may notice I've used the word pub, not restaurant, as I believe... More

Staff are top notch! Super friendly and make you feel at home, great service and nothing is too much to ask. Food was on point and the drinks menu has something for everyone on it. Try the strawberry beer! Yum!

On a whole the staff, interiors and food was generally lovely! The steak that my partner received was perfectly cooked as was the risotto I ordered. However I do think portions could be bigger and there could be more gluten free / vegetarian options... as I was limited to one choice. These are just suggestions. I would definitely recommend this restaurant... More

We've spent several Saturday afternoons at Hectors, enjoying a lazy beer and patting local pooches. Staff are super friendly, the beer is excellent and the food is quite good, too.

We were looking for somewhere to eat which would also allow us to bring our dogs. Chanced upon Hectors and we are o glad we did. Staff were welcoming. Dogs were given a bowl of water. I was on soft drinks and the waitress suggested a drink I hadn't tried before but which I loved. Food was hot, really tasty.... More

Hi Fiona Thanks for taking the time to write us a fantastic review! I'm glad you enjoyed the sparkling rhubarb drink I suggested (even though I brought a different one to the table). Dogs are always as welcome as people here at Hectors, and we always make sure their drinks come first! We look forward to seeing you on your... More

Had brunch here with a 5 and a 3 year old. The staff were really friendly and accommodating so that we all had exactly what we wanted whether on the menu or not! My egg florentine was delicious and I think good value. Great area to explore around there with the botanic gardens just a stones throw.

We visited Hectors whilst doing a bit of exploring. It was busy but looked nice and we weren't disappointed. Although busy the waiting staff were attentive and nothing was too much bother. Staying in Stockbridge & Dean Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s most desirable, though many bohemian touches have fallen away as its residents have matured and the area has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but mostly residents display refined tastes in basement bistros, gastropubs, coffee and antique shops, boutiques and delis and at the Sunday farmers' market. A pleasant ten-minute walk away, along a leafy riverside path beside the gurgling Water of Leith, lies Dean Village. This sleepy neighborhood of medieval half-timbered houses still retains much of the village feel it had when watermills plied their trade here. Beyond, the wooded riverside path feels even more remote as it climbs to the sculpture gardens of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
