I could not recommend this place enough either. The food is amazing & generous portions. The staff are so friendly. Next door but one is 'The Playhouse Theatre'. I don't think there's any car parking with the pub. Parking not to far away. Nicely decorated...More

We ate here twice during our week in Edinburgh. (our hotel was next door) We had beers with sandwiches, nothing fancy, just a nice lunch. (BLT, and a Burger with chips) Not many people around mid-afternoon, but it looked lively in the evenings.

Very handy for theatre goers. Good range of beers and lots of tables if you are dining. Very traditional bar.

Good ambiance. Large bar with plenty of seating. Fish and chips were good. Stayed in a hotel next to it and seemed to be a lively place each night.

We were really surprised by this establishment. Service was top-notch, while having one of the best meals in our lives. Brilliant restaurant. When we walk in, I thought that it was just a simple pub. But I'm really glad that it was just the first...More

We ate here on our last night in Edinburgh for dinner. We made reservations but didn't seem to be too necessary. The food was great. Service was above and beyond. Prices were incredibly reasonable.

This bar has a large oval bar but trying to get served was a problem. It wasn't the fact that there wasn't s enough bar staff. It was just you physically could not get to the bar. Two large areas were designated non service areas...More

Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to
malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton
have long been transitional neighbourhoods with a
mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village
found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything
but overt along bustling epicentre Broughton Street;
even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and
art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The

Are children allowed in for pre theatre dinner?
10 March 2015|
Response from Geoff R | Property representative |
Yes, kids are most welcome providing they are accompanied by at least one adult and are dining. There is a strict 8pm curfew however, with no leeway for "drinking up time" - this is due to licensing law rather than the... More
