The boyfriend and I ate here the other night during our city break and we had an absolute blast, I've never eaten so much in my life and I'm not sorry. I had the kentucky wings (best wings ever), lovely fries and a strawberry daiquiri (also best cocktail ever). It had a classic american diner feel to it and had... More

Visited here for lunch after a long walk exploring. We ordered two wraps and two drinks and we felt it was reasonable.. we then realised when paying there was a lunch menu which was given to everyone but us and it was much cheaper - little annoyed at that. Service was very average. Its got the 4 stars because we... More

Popped in here for a bite to eat and a bottle of wine while exploring Edinburgh. The burgers were great, one of the nicest burgers we've ever had. The atmosphere was really good, there was a lot of music which seemed to be just the right volume to enjoy without being overpowering. Staff were extremely attentive and we thoroughly enjoyed... Four of us visited for breakfast this morning. Three of us ordered Eggs Benedict and we're really, really disappointed. Not only was the ham of a 'plastic' variety but the dish was also served totally cold, the plates, the sauce, everything. We sent them back with a very polite, apologetic waitress. They returned still served on cold plates, luke warm... More

One of the waitresses we had was lovely, however the one who served us throughout was shocking. No check back on food, didn't ask us how it was, very rude and absolutely shocking customer service. Food took well over half an hour (the restaurant wasn't even half full) both calzones were saturated and so soggy. Pretty horrible to be honest.... More

So we hadn't booked and it was a busy Friday so 6 of us a little cramped around the table, I would suggest you book for numbers above 4 then you'll have enough space. This didn't detract from the food or service at both were very good. So an array of dishes ordered from Pizza, Calzone, Ribs, Chicken Skewers, Burgers... More

We popped in here for a late breakfast around 11am (breakfast is served until 12 noon I believe), and were immediately seated in a lovely booth. The staff were on form, swift and polite. I ordered scrambled eggs on toasted sourbread, and my partner had a big breakfast (can't remember the term from the menu!). With a glass of juice... More

Description
Filling Station coast to coast American restaurant and bar, has been created by a team of people who genuinely love good quality food, drinks and good times! No doubt you're thinking, well doesn't everybody want that? It's true many people do, but we have genuinely struggled to find somewhere that actually delivers all of these things. So our solution was simple - let's do it ourselves, the result is Filling Station.

When it's cooked well using fabulous ingredients, nothing beats authentic American food. Very few can resist a cocktail mixed by a real bartender who knows exactly how to blend flavours to achieve a perfect balance of strong, weak, sharp and sweet

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
