Have dined here a few times and always found food and service very good. I would have rated it 4/5 but there are a couple of things to consider. The toilets are always clean but very very small. Baby changing is a challenge! As mentioned the food is good, calamari is excellent as is the rice but I think the lamb... More

The kebabs with rice are far beyond my expectation. Desserts are fascinating as well. The staff is very nice, patient and helpful. Would definitely go again.

Arrived without a booking on a Tue in mid march and we were given a very cramped table though there were others available. We assumed they had been booked but the restaurant emptied out and the tables remained un occupied. As seems to be the case in many places the wine was vastly overpriced though nice enough. Service was friendly... More

My husband and I always head to Yeni's after seeing a play in Edinburgh. With no exception we have thoroughly enjoyed every meal there. Over many years, we have tried most of their tasty offerings, and have never been disappointed! An added plus is that the excellent staff always take time to have a personal chat with us.

We visited here on a busy Saturday night. So glad we pre booked as several people came in looking for a table and were turned away. Food was delicious and staff were extremley attentative. Well worth a visit especially if you love Greek food!

Great restaurant for a meze meal. Two courses for £20 and the dishes kept coming! Excellent selection and all really good food. Served our large table of 20 well and provided gluten free options as well.

What a meal! We are on a busy Saturday night and had the two course banquet. Highly recommended because you get a greater selection of smaller portions: cold and hot starter dishes followed by kebab and iskende dishes. We drank this with Raki and followed with Baklava and Turkish Delight. An absolutely fabulous meal.

This is a question for the restaurant or anyone that can answer me.

I have just returned from Crete and had the most amazing samali cake. I manage to get recipe online for it and it asks for mastic. It is very expensive to buy online and as I only need a very small amount cannot justify it. Is there an alternative that I can use or somewhere local that I can buy a small amount of this ingredient

Thanks

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
