Wonderful meal--fresh fish as the plat du jour was spectacular. Simple prep, letting the freshness of the fish stand out. My husband had prosciutto-wrapped cod and it was also great. Yummy sides of mashed root vegetables and roasted cauliflower. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, lots of locals. The real treat was jazz on Tues/Thursday's in the pub. No cover. Took our... More

OK so visited recently with family for what was supposed to be a special meal. Unfortunately we thought we had booked Fishers next door...something that happens frequently according to Fishers staff. Same owners but it seems some sites have the two confused or its not immediately obvious which one you are booking so be careful. Despite the mix up we... More

We managed to get a table in the bar on a Sunday lunchtime. The food was just sublime. The daily fish special was hake and was perfectly cooked. The wine recommendation was spot on, the service was attentive and the puddings were yummy. And the added bonus of a jazz duo made it an afternoon to remember - I just... More

Staff really helpful if a bit run off their feet service quick and attentive good selection of beers wines and spirits. Menu well thought out with a very seafood slant I chose the scallops as a main dish and they were awesome... More

The food was excellent, the drinks were well priced and the jazz trio later on made the evening a total success. The boss behind the bar was perhaps the best customer serving person I have met. The waitress was also an excellent addition to the ambience.

We were so surprised to read the previous review. We were lucky enough to get a table for the Thursday evening Jazz. Our food was exemplary (I don't think I have seen sweet breads on a menu for years) and the staff were attentive and polite. We had a bottle of house white, which at circa £18 was excellent value for... We visited the pub on another evening, when we were eating next door at Fishers restaurant, and we loved the pub atmosphere, the friendly staff, the terrific buzz of the place. We noticed they had a "dining room" next door to the bar and decided to try it - after all, it was owned by the same business as Fishers... More

Good food, served well in very pleasant surroundings at a not outlandiish price. This place never has let us down and doesn't seem likely to do so in the future.

Situated on the Leith waterfront, The Shore is the ideal destination for those wishing to spend an evening in Edinburghs historic port. Boats line the harbourside where the sun sets slowly on hot summer nights, making The Shore a quiet and idyllic location: perfect for a relaxing evening and an intimate meal. The ambience is warm and charming, enhanced by the traditional and candlelit dcor of informal 18th century wood panelling, huge mirrors and real fires. The cuisine fuses classic British dishes with a modern European twist; we love the pecan-crusted fillet of ostrich, served with blue cheese dauphinoise potatoes and green beans. After dinner, head to the bar, where live entertainment is provided most evenings by local jazz and folk musicians.
