Very good experience at this restaurant. I ate a chicken plate (merishke kebab) that was cooked in the traditional Kurdish way: over the charcoal barbecue. Great taste of Iranian food

Living in Edinburgh, this is one of my favourite restaurants and visit regularly however after my visit today, I will sadly not be dining here anymore. Having worked in the service industry, I understand the time pressures and constraints etc., especially on a Saturday night,...More

My mum has several severe food allergies and Ali, the manager of Hanam, was incredibly accommodating of her needs and ensured we all enjoyed our meals! It was fresh, delicious, and fairly prices food - especially for being right off the Mile.

I visited this restaurant this evening after 3 previous attempts at getting a table, it was always fully booked. After waiting so long I was so looking forward to my meal. I asked the waitress if two meals which one did she recommend, it was...More

we turned up without a booking, were welcomed and enjoyed delicious Kurdish and Moroccan main courses- the flat breads were especially good. The place felt comfortable and relaxed.

Bearing in mind that my husband and I are both vegetarian and don't drink alcohol, we found the food here exceptionally good value. We were lucky enough to squeak in for an early evening dinner on a Wednesday, when to our surprise we were told...More

The chicken dishes here are a revelation and the staff is helpful in navigating the menu and making small changes to suit customers. This was my second time here. I wont go to Edinburgh without eating at Hanam's

Went to this restaurant last night with some friends and was my second time there. The staff were very pleasant and managed to fit us in with short notice. Everything on the menu was overpriced. I had a chicken biryani that cost me £15.30 and...More

The food is seriously incredible. And we are pretty picky. Accommodating, pleasant staff and atmosphere!

The food was wonderful with a very traditional decorated restaurant. The menu is extensive and very reasonably priced and with the BYOB option coupled with good service in a central location it's a must visit for Edinburgh

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

I went there while on a gluten free diet and found plenty of options. Just be careful of the rice as I think it has vermicelli or some other kind of noodle in it.
Just noticed you did gift vouchers how long are valid for Thank you

Set in the heart of Edinburgh is Hanam's Kurdish and Middle Eastern Restaurant and if you think that's a mouthful, wait until you see what on offer! Voted one of Britain's Top 5 Middle Eastern Restaurants by the Telegraph, owner Ahmed ensures the personal touch, by being there seven days a week to offer advice and banter. The menu offers starters such as falafel and baba ghanoush, main courses that include Kurdish pizzas, vegetarian casseroles and halal meat dishes, such as Kurdish-style lamb biryani. There are also a selection of shish kebabs and desserts. Three courses from this banquet-like menu will cost an average of just £20 per person. And, if you're so inclined, you can even smoke a traditional hookah after your meal.
