We visited Mums as part of a hen party weekend. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by friendly staff and made to feel comfortable. They did their best to accommodate all our requirements. The food when it arrived was tasty, hot and plentiful. The Reece's peanut milkshake is to die for. We would recommend this restaurant to everyone... More

Such a great reataurant. Great value for money and attentive staff. Has a very basic setup and a reasonably simple menu, but the food was excellent and portion sizes very decent! We had fish amd chips and the bean burger. Both were great. We managed to squeeze in icr cream dessert. No regrets! I'll be back for sure.

Maybe the best place i ever been in Edinburgh, returned here after 4 years and found the same good food and the same amazing staff. Can't choose from steak or fish pies or everything on the menu all good..

Lots of 70's style decorations and memorabilia make this place stand out as quite ironic and unusual but it's not one of those style over substance places; I had the full Scottish breakfast and it was VG. Very friendly staff meet and greet and service was good throughout. The menu is relatively brief: burgers, breakfasts, pies, sausage and mash (veggie... More

Had breakfast here recently and while the food was average it we were immediately put off by the very rude, forward lady who served us. Certainly not the kind of service thats makes people feel welcome, couldn't get out of the place quick enough. Had some breakfast filled rolls which just broke into pieces due to the very poor quality,... More

The food was average, the prices a bit steep and the staff was semi dedicated. Average with a hint of quantity.

Short and concise menu consisting of burgers, mash and pies or mash and sausage plus gravy. Delicious and getting out there with the belly ten times bigger that when you came in. The place is tiny so make sure to avoid rush times in Sunday specially. The staff is great, really welcoming and helpful.

Was recommended the place for lunch and must say we were not disappointed :) It was very nice and a bit heavy food for lunch. The service was fine. The place was very cosy but a bit dark. All in all recommendable.

There were 5 in our party and as soon as we sat down the staff were extremely rude as well as condescending. While the food is good, the wait and service are not worth it.

My boyfriend and I visited here on the Saturday of a rugby game, post - match. On arrival we were lucky enough to have a choice of tables, however it soon filled up. So if you really want to eat here, I'd suggest pre-booking (just in case!) The menu had a great choice of hearty meals to warm you up-... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
