As my parents live in Inverness, I have visited the castle tavern many times over the years and has always been fabulous food, although this was the first visit since it has changed management. Not sure what happened tonight, whether it is due to the...More

Great place, popular with tourists but also locals, very nice staff, food is fine. Unfortunately, we were always late for the mussles, so we'll be back.

This has been my local for several years, I approached the change in ownership with an open mind but I'm afraid it has gone downhill. I booked a table in the restaurant last week, and requested a high chair specifically and was told it would...More

We wanted to eat Haggis and The Castle tavern was recommended for that. IT was the first time we had haggis so I can not compare. Our kids had macaroni and cheese but that dish was not so great.

Plenty of waitresses but you have to find the menu yourself and then order at the bar. Food was prepared in about 15-20 minutes which is ok. The quality however was below expectations. A burger is more than meat and a bun in most places,...More

Stopped by here tonight for dinner (I thought 8t was going to be an early dinner but we didn't get here until after 5). The place was packed inside and out. Food was good.

Really good service, food and atmosphere. But book ahead - we were seated near the door and were able to listen in on literally dozens of people being turned away because there was no room.

Great pub with a gorgeous view of the Inverness castle. We had a great Cullen Skink soup and amazing salmon rolls, but both weree topped by the cheescake, which was absolutely to die for! Good selection of local Ales and Scotches, the barman Sean was...More

A stone's throw from the Inverness Castle, River Ness, and downtown Inverness. What more can one want from an Scottish pub, right? Seating is available outside, at the bar, or upstairs. We chose inside, and upstairs in hope of scoring a window seat, with a...More

Visited this tavern several times during my stay in the city. Excellent selection of real ale with 6 pumps on. Ate here on one evening and the food, although not adventurous, was good along with the service. Small, but lovely area to sit outside facing...More

I saw dogs inside, but for details surely a quick email to them would confirm. For example most places allow in room but not eating areas.

Built in the mid 1700’s, The Castle Tavern has kept its traditional feel and charm from centuries past.

Not only does it overlook the River Ness, the Tavern sits across from the Inverness Castle and the start/finish of the Great Glen Way trail. You can no doubt enjoy some of the best views Inverness has to offer.

The venue boasts a bar, first floor restaurant and a beer garden.

A Real Ale bar and restaurant serving freshly prepared food made from the best locally sourced ingredients (daily specials available).
