Booked in advance by email, had confirmation, replied to confirm. Turned up, was offered drinks by Richard. All good so far. Then Richard asked our surname, to which he then said "NOPE". We all laughed thinking it was some sort of joke, but he was deadly serious. He claimed we must have made a mistake and effectively ordered us to... More

We were staying elsewhere but, having read an item in the Sunday Times before consulting TripAdvisor, this restaurant was definitely on our list of places to visit on Lewis. We were not disappointed; indeed, we returned later the same week to make sure we hadn't imagined finding such an outstanding restaurant in such an out-of-the-way place! And with a view... More

We had to try so hard to get a table that we began to wonder if it was worth it. As it turned out, this was a great meal in beautiful surroundings. Mussels, crab, hot smoked salmon, monkfish with scallops, all tasting fresh and cooked perfectly, were our choices, but the menu contained as much for non-seafood lovers too. The... More

Absolutely delighted that I found this gem of a place during my recent visit to Lewis. Very high quality of food and presented immaculately. Intimate setting with some of the best views ever. Head up over the hill and watch the sunset. Expensive but worth every penny. Delightful service and all round fabulous dining experience. Sorry that you're closing in... More

It is strange to find a restaurant of this quality on a island that has very few restaurants. As we were staying only a mile away we decided to give it a try. It has an ideal position over looking the superb Uig beach. Unfortunately, I think the tables with the views are reserved for guests as our table was... More

Great food and stunning view. The fish was cooked to perfection. Haggis crepe was unusual and surprisingly good. Chocolate and Guinness pudding was light and delicious. Our host was engaging - a shame it is closing at the end of the year. It will leave a huge gap in Uig.

Smoked wild goose and beetroot to start. Monkfish and hand dived scallops. Plus a great bottle of wine. And an amazing sunset above a white sandy beach. Perfect Hebrides.

Perfectly positioned overlooking what must be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We were extremely lucky because our cottage rental was right next door. Unexpectedly good and original menu beautifully served. What a pleasure and we only had to walk back!

We just spent six days at Auberge - staying there and eating there. We could not recommend this more fully - Richard (owner/chef) is great fun, a great cook and source of much interesting local information. What a `pleasure to be there. And the staff are fantastic too - keeping the place clean, working hard, being sociable and charming -... More

Didn't start well when our booking wasn't in the diary. Next we were allocated the only table without a view (stunning beach). However we were there for the food. The quality was average bistro; the cost therefore was high. Mostly the food was basic and over cooked. Starters of fish cakes was very simple - overly so - and poorly... More
