The best steak in Scotland and maybe Britain the chips are also real and not frozen unlike some other steak restaurants. The Chenin blanc house wine is the best house wine I've ever tasted.

- A great place for celebration, albeit an opportunity to recognise/pick up on our daughter’s milestone birthday was missed - Ample space - relaxed atmosphere, plenty of room between tables, no raised ambient noise - Time to enjoy our meal in a dining room styled...More

We ate at this restaurant celebrating a close friend’s birthday and it certainly lived up to expectations. I had heard great things about this restaurant and was looking forward to trying it. Staff were very well turned out, smart and very attentive. I ordered soup...More

I live locally but this was only my second visit to the Steak and Ale House, with the initial meal almost twenty years ago. The addition of a separate wine store was interesting and added to the experience. The absence of any noticeable change to...More

It was cold and wet and we wanted a stop for coffee, Didn't see anything on the main street so kept moving on. We had seen an ad for Champany but it looked to be fancier than we wanted. All of a sudden, there it...More

It is a tradition for us to visit here on our occasional forays to the region. And today confirmed the soundness of this approach. A major question had been to decide what starter should precede the Tbone steaks. We agreed on lamb Chops and this...More

You definitely will not be the only party. If using the chop and alehouse, you may need to wait in the snug for a table. but its worth it. If eating in the main restaurant you can book. Hope you can handle your meat!
