Outside the couple of visits I've had with friends, I've now taken three large groups of colleagues around Linlithgow, finishing in the Four Marys, and it has been a massive hit with all of them (not least because of the heating and the open fireplace!) The food is excellent, with very good portions (beware the whale you may face when... More

We ate here twice on our long weekend in Linlithgow. We were staying in the nearby holiday cottages and this was a local pub on the high street who were able to accommodate our party of eleven (4kids 7adults). Food was nice and service was good once we got to our table. They had a separate menu for the children... More

Today was fantastic. Just fantastic. It's genuinely one of the best pubs in the world. I had the smoked haddie (haddock) with mash, veg and a fantastic cheese sauce. It's wrong to lick your plate in public so I used my finger and rubbed it on every inch of the plate just to make sure I didn't miss even a... More

Review is based on 2 visits over a long weekend with a party of 11. Short delay on arrival but once shown to table the party were settled and ordering drinks within a few minutes. Friendly efficient waitresses. Menu was adequate with some local favourites and the children were catered for with their own menu & coctails. The meals were... More

We were passing through here and chose the pub on trip advisors recommendation! The staff were so friendly. The food was all delicious! Very reasonably priced too!

Service was faultless. Very pleasant and precise. Salmon was over cooked and hollandaise sauce wasn't great. But! THE GOOIEST, MOST AMAZING BROWNIE EVER was placed in front of me, and I particularly died and went to heaven. Not even an exaggeration, the brownie here is insanely good. What a shame I'm moving away! Haha!

Luckily we are not in a hurry. Table booked for 1pm we left at 3.45pm. First impressions were good - lovely warm country pub. We were sitting next to an open fire. Great choice of menu - again all good. This is where the five star rating stops. Waitress took drinks order and despite this - some drinks were missing.... More

The theme is Mary Queen of Scots and her maidservants and the history was fascinating and gives the hostelry a great and unique atmosphere. Seems very popular with the locals and I was shown to a table very quickly by attentive staff. A menu aimed more at customers with a taste for good food and variety as well as special... More

Nice place to eat in Linlithgow. BEWARE the portions are large. The waitress was friendly and super efficient, she made us feel like regulars. Lunch and drinks for 4 people just £38.
