A bank holiday Monday we had forgotten to book lunch anywhere at all - disaster struck, kids crying wife seething and I was panicked - I remembered this friendly little place in Foxrock on the main street, not really a place to consider for meals when thinking Foxrock, more posh houses and high prices, welll The Gables is in the... Came here last Friday with with a group of 15 and we all were delighted with our food! The service was prompt, staff were friendly and efficient, the wine was lovely and each and every dish that was served was delicious. I only got the main course of monkfish wrapped in Serrano ham, it was so tasty, but everyone else... More

Went for a family dinner in The Gables last Friday. There were 15 of us. Not one of us had a negative word to say about the food or the service. Everyone wa very happy with their choice from the menu and the plates went back to the kitchen clean. Excellent selection of wine to accompany our food including reasonably... More

Was here for brunch today the two of us. Ordered a large Americano which arrived 2/3 full. Asked for some boiling water - it never arrived. Asked again 10 minutes later and was presented with a carafe of cold water and 2 glasses - after we had finished our food. My wife asked for an americano, we had to ask... More

I apologise for the very poor standard of service that you received when dining with us last week. No excuses, everything went wrong (even though we did offer to move you from the small coffee table) and we will certainly learn from your comments. It is just a pity that we couldn't get something sorted with you before you left,... More

If you are not fussy about your food then you can enjoy a pleasant evening in this sports bar come restaurant. Popular with the locals and parties of women, if you don't expect too much, you won't be disappointed. Stick to the burgers or fish and chips which are okay.

Hello Don. Thank you for your comments. A sports bar we definitely are not, with one discreet TV tucked away in the corner. Maybe it's because of the many sports personalities who like to visit us, gives you that impression. Apart from the traditional dishes that our regular customers do like, we pride ourselves on many exciting specials also. Last... More

I recently went here for a work Xmas lunch. I had a fishcake starter, which was OK and salmon for main, which was very ordinary, all for €24. The portion size of the main course was tiny, it consisted of 3 baby potatoes cut in half, and shredded carrots and a small fillet of salmon. I was still starving after... More

Thank you for your comments. I am also disappointed that you did not bring this to our attention... More

We chose The Gables for our girlie festive get together as it was conveniently situated for the three of us coming from different directions. It was a busy Sunday in Foxrock that day as Santa had arrived and the resturant bar area was busy with passers-by looking to warm up. We had a table booked for 5.30 an early dinner... More
