Just had lunch with friends and family here and had a superb meal with really good service There is a great atmosphere in the place and it is really busy so book ahead if you can or you probably won't get in as we witnessed about 20 people being turned away All courses and dishes were well cooked and presented... My wife and I visited Blakes BAr today for Sunday lunch. Great venue with a warm traditional feel. We were quickly ushered in out of the cold and seated - drinks and menus arrived promptly with a smile. Excellent choices on menu - I chose the slow roasted lamb shoulder and my wife chose salmon. The lamb was melting soft... More

I enjoyed a love glass of wine and cheese board yesterday afternoon in Blakes. The staff were friendly and there was a lovely atmosphere in the bar. The cheese board offered 4 different cheeses and sweet crackers. I will look forward to a return visit in the new year.

Nice atmosphere. Good selection of wines. Shame about the food. Don't know how it won best Gastropub. I've eaten here for lunch twice and have been disappointed one both occasions. Worst overpriced Caesar salad I've had. Would have been better off with a €5 salad bowl from Dunnes. Definitely won't be eating here again.

A cozy pub with great food, good beer, friendly service and the four corners of Ireland whiskey flight. Bartenders are knowledgeable.

We went during a big rugby match (championship vs Australia... huge crowds!) it was fun to see the locals and be with them during a fun sporting event. The staff was great and fast, the bar area is small but cozy and I would definitely recommend stopping in for a pint!

We stayed for a week in Galway, eating out every night. we decided that the restaurant we all liked the best would be the one we eat at on our last night, Blakes won our vote hands down! Just everything about this restaurant is right, the lighting, the decor, the tables, the seating, the drinks and of course the food... More

We stumbled upon this place and decided to give it a try (mostly because my boyfriend's name is Blake). We were not disappointed. It looks unassuming from the outside but is a warm, cozy, locals place on the inside. The bartender was very nice and had very generous pours of wine! He was more than willing to give advice on...
