Called in for a meal with no prior knowledge of the pub whilst travelling through the area. Superb food.Superb beer. Staff and customers all very welcoming. Proper home cooked food. All piping hot. This is what a good pub should be. Busy at 6 pm which says it all. I only wish this was my local !

It got two entrances, a nice sized pub and eating area with a beautiful log fire, a special board and also one for deserts! We sat ourselves on both occasions next to the fire, which was beautiful... Friday lunch provided a pensioners menu for £4.50. Great value, good choice in cosy, friendly surroundings. I was unlucky as my roast beef was tough but this will not prevent us paying another visit.

Love this place. Friendly staff good food. If you fancy a cosy pub especially in winter time it has a coal/ log fire. It is a busy pub dogs are welcome it's a country pub. I had a small roast dinner which was what I'd call a normal sized portion just right for me bearing in mind I was sharing... More

This is our local pub which provides an excellent varied menu seven days a week from midday through to the evening. This offers well priced favourites (including scampi, Yorkshire ham and egg tea, chicken curry) as well as specials (rib eye steak, lamb shank). A bit limited on vegetarian options. Also a good sweet menu ( particularly homemade bakewell tart).... More

Sometimes you know you've picked a nice pub as soon as you cross the threshold. I turned aside from the Cleveland Way down a long straight road with a gale blowing in my face and at the end of it found the ideal village pub - warm, comfortable and welcoming. I just had a bowl of soup for lunch -... More
