Never eaten here before but was so impressed I'm going there again tonight. The menu is really good for a real ale pub such as it is. What's really impressive is the quality of the food. I chose the fish and chips; the mushy peas were out of this world, you have to try them! What about the beer? Well... More

Good portions of well cooked food in a nice environment. Can get busy at times but worth it. Always a good place to visit with friends.

Took forever for our food to arrive. Was luke warm. Asked nicely if it could be warmed for a few minutes & got told "IT'S FINE!"... Staff were so rude. I asked to talk to a manager & was ignored. So glad I had quite a few people off other tables agree with me.

Our staff would never say that and after watching CCTV, we are happy with the way your complaint was dealt with and meal replaced. You appear to make a habit of giving eating-out establishments a dusting down....may I suggest you stick to take away. Please read other reviews for a true picture of our award winning business. If you like your food quirky, snacks served on boards, chips in miniature pans and unusual takes on mains then this could be the place for you. Cosy rooms and alcoves add to the charm as does an "Old Cottage" now opened up within the pub. Add in the best beer brewed in Derby bar none and you can see... More

This excellent Ale House (derby brewing company) serves really good food so whichever you want to go for it caters for everybody. We attended in a group of 10 and could not have asked for or received better service. Well done everybody. We will be back again.

There is pay and display parking outside Free after 8pm 2 hours max. £3.50 Good food and varied selection. Different from most puds so worth a trip. Pub is quiet cozy so can get hot if busy which it usually is.

My wife and I went to the Exeter arms on Friday night as it had been recommended previously. The pub is a great traditional vibe, and the quality / choice of ale top notch! My wife had duck inside of a duck, and I had the farm yard pie (something to that effect). The food took a while (40mins) but... More

Monday lunchtime. Were they coasting after a busy weekend? After a stunning article in The Derby Telegraph 10 of us looked forward to a great lunch but had a very mixed experience. Great beer. Best cottage pie ever, great burger and chips. Nice fish. Soup, steak sandwiches and wraps all came luke warm. Hanging kebab was cold and lamb kofta... More

Yes you should. We have no qualms in taking items of the bill that you were not satisfied with. Ringing up after the event and admonishing on Trip Advisor is a very cowardice way of feeding-back. More
