We went as a party of 4 and the first thing I have to say is what an incredibly beautiful restaurant, it all looks so original and really is stunning. The food matched up to the venue and was outstanding. There was a little wait for the mains but it was very busy so we did understand and our waiter... More

The Cathedral neighborhood of Derby is popular locally and with visitors, but most of the dining is of the noisy pub variety. Just off the main thoroughfare, on Sadler Gate, Zest is a terrific alternative—not just an option, but an excellent one. On a recent visit, before a beautiful chorale performance in the Cathedral proper, we showed up at opening... More

There were plenty of tables at the back but we got put out front on our own until a few more customers arrived. Very little atmosphere where we were. The service was pleasant enough as was the food but nothing special. There are many other restaurants in the city centre as good or better. The mains are not cheap and... More

Decided to eat here for my husband's birthday - we hadn't booked a table but the restaurant was empty as it was early evening. Enjoyed a glass of prosecco on arrival and we both ordered starters of pigeon breast and mains of venison with sides of chips and seasonal vegetables. Both of the meals were absolutely amazing, cooked to perfection,... More

We called in on spec with no booking on 7th April. We were made welcome immediately and offered an excellent table. The staff were very knowledgeable and provided advice when asked. The meal was superb with one of our party stating it was the best starter he has ever had. The rest of the meal was equally good for all.... More

Went to Zest on Saturday with my partner. Very pretty décor. However, unfortunately we were seated towards the front of the restaurant where no one else was sitting. Every time people entered the restaurant they were sat in the back part. Therefore, the back part had lots of people sitting in it and we were just sat on our own.... More

Zest moved and what a difference a venue can make. It was always good on George street but the quirky venue gave it a romantic feel. The food was good service too. Lovely all round experience will go again

Been waiting to go here for a while after recommendation by friends. Great first impressions, nice decor and a good feel on entry. Went downhill from there..... felt like we had been forgotten about. Had to get attention every time we wanted to order something. Ordered wine, took an age to arrive. Then another huge wait before we could place... More

Alas alack, service was slack. Booked a table for 8pm. Now that isn't really late and we were not last to arrive, by any means. But already, the soup was off the menu. Tasty aranchini but looked too perfect to be hand made. Long wait for the main. It arrived at 9.30....that an hour and a half. Must be good... More

Thank You for taking the time to write a review. We apologise the soup was unavailable, we had been particulary busy and the soup was far more popular than normal that evening. We are really pleased you enjoyed the aranchini, and I can assure you it is homemade along with all our other dishes here at Zest. We also apologise... More
