We had room 3 which overlooked the crossing. We could see the traffic but couldn't hear it at all. Breakfast was lovely and we also ate there one evening and hubby said it was the best steak he'd had in a long time. We paid the £5 per night to use the small car park but if you can't get... More

I came with a group of mum friends all with a pram and the staff were more than accommodating and made us feel very welcome. The food and wine was excellent (I had the pork burger) and I thought the main courses were well priced as it is clearly quality food. The only thing I would change is the price... More

My partner and I stayed at the Toll House Inn for 3 nights. We were not sure what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. The Inn was clean and stylish. Our room on the first floor had everything we required and it was clean and very quiet. Breakfast had a good choice and was served efficiently. The staff were pleasant... More

Recently changed hands and has a very pleasant atmosphere in a high ceiling room, extremely cleverly lit. The menu is relatively concise but varied. The service and presentation are fine and varied cuisines are well prepared. This is restaurant food, not Bar Food. We were a party of four and we touched items ranging from kebabs, through fish stew to... More

First time eating here since the refurbishment, was pleasantly surprised. Food was reasonably priced and the staff were friendly. Could have done with music playing on the side of the room we were seated in as it was lacking a bit of atmosphere but overall a nice meal out

A freezing cold Wednesday evening in February, with a lovely Moon shining in the sky. We were delighted to get a table right beside the roaring fire. I had the steak pudding, my partner had the Lancashire hotpot- both good traditional stick-to-your-ribs food perfect for a cold night. Both dishes were excellent, as usual. The service was quick, polite and... More

Friendly staff and buzzy restaurant. We had the fisherman's board to share as a starter and it was excellent, as was my husband's steak. However the fish stew was extremely disappointing. It is described as consisting of monkfish, prawns, haddock and mussels, but seemed to be all shellfish and if there were any fish pieces they had disintegrated. What was... More

Hi Georgia, Thanks for the review. I've spoken with the kitchen team about this and we have taken your feedback on board and made a couple of tweaks to the dish. Hopefully when you next visit us you'll be wowed by the fish stew! Best regards, Joe More

Very tasty food, polite waiting staff and a good time had by all. Our only minor gripe was having pre-booked our meals 2 days in advance as we were a group over 10 people, there was a shortage of one item on the main course and one person then had to choose again from the menu. Surely if they are... More
