Small, cosy and intimate vegaterian restaurant. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. Amazing food and huge portion sizes albeit not a very big menu. Would definitely recommend going on a Sunday and having the Sunday 'roast'.

My partner and I came here for a weekend away, we've eaten in many upscale vegetarian restaurants and had high hopes for some "posh" vege food in 1847! My partners parsnip starter was nice but for £8.50 i expected something more fancy than just roasted parnips with parsnip cream. I had the cauliflower starter which had hardly any tamarind on... I so want this place to be great, but it isn't. I am not sure where to start. Perhaps the good bits, some of the food is very tasty - battered halloumi for example. The soup was OK but a bread roll would have been nice. The daal tasted OK but why such a tiny portion? The broccoli was either... More

Having vegans on my team limits where we can go out for lunch 'en force'. Thankfully 1847 is within a stones throw of our office. Even the most enthusiastic meat lover really enjoyed the meal (that would be me). Brilliant. And the staff are superb.

Had to check out some of ingredients on internet as not familiar with them. The houmous was soooooooo good, we asked if they did take-a-way. (Sadly they did not). Tried vege take on fish & chips, battered halloumi with hand cut chips and a puree. It was delicious. My sage and lentil croquettes were good but not marvellous. Was stuffed... More

A very disappointing meal. There's more plate than actual food served here. The food was so average and the portions were very small. The items in the menu were not described well and we had to ask many questions about what was in the meals and then when they arrived they were still not what they had described. The quality... My friend booked a table here as I am vegan. The food and atmosphere was just lovely. So was the service. But the food was amazing wow wow wow. We both ate different things and we were nicely full after the meal. It's a must if you are in Manchester.

We had the £10 lunch deal where you get a main course and a glass of wine. The descriptions on the menu don't do it justice the food is beautiful and delicious. We had the cauliflower and miso risotto with pickled egg and a side of 'chorizo' flavour polenta fries. My husband had the spratzle with roast squash, smoked mushrooms... More

This was my third visit here and my partners first and it was exceptionally good, the food was warm, well cooked and presented and the staff friendly and polite. A nice place to eat when you want something a bit different and good for vegetarians, vegans and anyone else.

First of all, I have to say I am not a vegetarian. I am an omnivore (slightly on the meat eating side to be honest. But this was by far the best vegetarian meal I had in a while. Really enjoyed the food and the overall atmosphere of this restaurant. Everything is reasonably priced, so if you are in the... More
