Fun, sophisticated creative and mostly delicious. Food itself was superbly executed but I have a problem with all the sauces. To my subjective taste sauces were too sweet and almost honey-like. I wish chef to re-examine his heavy hand approach to sauces. Otherwise really great

Very small place with a cozy environment and great food. The menu is simple but very well executed with amazing flavors especially in the sauces. The dessert was a great surprise!

Very high quality, very tasty and nice presented dishes. Very well attended by the service. The flavour of all the dishes was simply extraordinary and different from the regular restaurants

Small, intimate restaurant with a maximum of 20 couverts, so reserve ahead for a really good culinary experience in the most picturesque part of the city. Mind you, there is nothing Alsatian about the food here; the inspiration is Japanese, and it is cleverly and effortlessly combined with modern French techniques and ingredients. Also relatively inexpensive for a Michelin starred restaurant.... More

We spent a few days in Strasbourg and in order to avoid the 'tourist' restaurants, I did some research for which restaurant to make a reservation. Eliminating the most expensive ones, Umami became on top of my list. We had a great evening in a peaceful atmosphere. The hostess was very friendly. We took the 'Matcha' menu with matching wines.... Loved this restaurant. Very cosy and small, you see everything that's going on here, and even hear the food being cooked in the kitchen. Very friendly service, and great food. Enjoyed it very much, will try coming back next time I'm in Strasbourg.

Interesting food which combines oriental and French cuisine It would only suit a very refined taste It is very small restaurant and booking in advance is recommended Not my favorite restaurant in Strasbourg and I know all the best ones but it provides an interesting go change On the expensive side

We had a break from a couple of nights of heavy Alsatian cuisine to enjoy the Asian-inspired fusion dishes at Umami. The restaurant is very attractive and the patronne is friendly and welcoming. The decor is stylish and appealing, in tones and textures of greys and beige. The restaurant is small (around 8 tables) so you need to reserve ahead,... More

Despite its name (the 5th ingredient in ``washoku`` traditional Japanese food techniques) this is not a Japanese restaurant nor even a Japanese-French fusion restaurant; rather it is an ASIAN-French fusion. The flavors added to traditional French dishes are SE Asian, Chinese, Japanese. And the result is exquisite. The amuse bouche included a shrimp cracker on which there was a beet,... More

Nice atmosphere, fresh and interesting food. The restaurant is elegantly designed. The quality justifies the price. Highly recommend !
