Had no real expectations of this place. Not the best location but Wow! What a wonderful experience. The restaurant offers a fixed set menu of 2 starters, 2 mains - fish and meat and a sweet. 45 Euros each. We also went for the tasting wine per plate offer, another 24 euros. Trust me when I say it was the best 69 euros ever spent in a restaurant The head chef Renzetti is a genius! Each plate was a riot of flavours and colour.... real top draw nouvelle cuisine and the wine was a perfect accompaniment every time. Every plate was served complete with a full description of the food on offer by the very energetic and passionate staff. I don’t think anyone working at the restaurant was older than 25 but what they presented was in every way pure top end service. This place is an absolute must for anyone who appreciated good food, wine and service. We shall definitely be going back.

This restaurant is outstanding and the very best we have been to for a long time, everything from the decor to the cutlery is divine and above all the food and the waiters superb knowledge of the wines was so very impressive! It is in no way pretensious but it has every right to be and we feel it will soon acquire its first Michelin star. And the most extraordinary thing of all..... the price is only €55 for 5 amazing courses of the most stunningly presented, thoughtful, tasteful food you will find anywhere.

Where to start! The service was impecable. We entered the restaurant, chose our table and were taken through the evening menu available by Sarah who was incredibly attentive. Water was constantly refilled and everything was served with perfect timing.
It was a fixed 5 course, I have to call it a “journey” not a menu.
I was a little hesitant as my wife is fairly particular about which food she enjoys and the way it is cooked, hence she prefers to choose her own dishes, but I need not have any concerns.
I chose to have wine pairing, whilst my wife chose sparkling wine made from raspberries (which she proclaimed as fabulous).
I wont go through each dish experience as I understand it changes daily, but each dish was very different, very complex in flavour and execution and I had never heard of most of the wines which were also interesting and complimented each dish beautifully.
Each dish reflected how carefully the chef had thought through the different flavours and combinations, perfectly balancing the ingredients. The detail is truly impressive. At inception you are teased with bread and delicious cardomom and saffron butter, leaving you in anticipation for the show to begin.
Each time the dishes come out, they are creative, innovative and maybe for some too adventurous. Not for us! Close your eyes, take a mouth full and see where those flavours take you.
And then just when the curtain is about to fall, the young chef, Sylvian Renzetti comes to your table with the pièce de résistance. Its not a desert, its a work of art. The chef explains passionately how he has been influenced and how he has created this masterpiece. Quite frankly, I think the guy is a genius and it was one of the best pieces of theatre we have ever eaten!

Had a fantastic evening at SON. The food was original, inventive and, most importantly, delicious. The quality of the service matched the quality of the cooking, making for a very enjoyable evening. Well worth trying if you fancy something top quality yet a bit different from your typical French fine dining experience, all at a remarkable reasonable price when compared to restaurants of a similar calibre. Highly recommended!

What a great little restaurant and such a special touch having a menu which is crafted by the team. The chef personally comes over to give you the dessert course and explains the expertise and finesse that goes into the dish in front of you. I had my 40th meal there with my husband and we had the additional foie gras starter and cheese to share and loved every dish! Would definitely recommend it to others. I think the menu set price is very reasonable and a lovely atmosphere.

We had the most fantastic meal at Son restaurant. The food is unique, local and absolutely delicious. The wait staff are attentive but not overly so, and the meal itself for the quality of the food is excellent value. €65 for a 5 course menu, with each course as interesting and tasty as the last. Our favourite was the Blue Ling fish course, absolutely perfect. Thank you for a wonderful meal!!

Restaurant Son' has a lot to offer to its customers. Decorations, food, service, plating, music, everything was exceptional. They served 5 courses and each one was really well-thought-of, and in good harmony. The menu is prepared uniquely for each day and you can see the creativity in it. Preparing different dishes for every day might be difficult but the young chefs of the Son' seem to enjoy the challenge and surprise you with their ideas. It's definetly a must-go place in Bordeaux.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here, good flavour combinations and friendly staff. A nice time between courses to enjoy the surroundings and an open kitchen where you can see the chefs at work, who are clearly very passionate. A little more attentiveness Over the water and wine would have been good, however overall we were very impressed. Interesting combinations of flavour (eg pork and orange) were a real delight.
A lovely atmosphere which we thoroughly enjoyed. Just one sitting per evening so you can take your time. Very friendly staff which made it a lovely experience. Thank you

The lunch from three courses was very delicious, the service was very good. The restaurant is not big and the kitchen is located just inside the restaurant’s main room, so you can see all the process of making your food. We enjoyed our time there and definitely will recommend this place.

My best restaurant experience ever !!!?
Impeccable service, impeccable food and impeccable atmosphere at unbeatable prices.
It was a set menu with an option for pork or fish as main course, we both went for the pork.
The food was exquisite and the dishes were perfectly executed with great presentation and clinical attention to details to both look and taste.
I was so impressed by the all experience that at some point, to prove to myself it was not just me being in a good mood, I found myself trying very hard to fault it, looking for something wrong, I could not.
Henry's knowledge of wines, food and the restaurant itself is impressive and whenever he was explaining something to us, it was obvious he loves what he does and it was contagious!
Perhaps even more impressive than the knowledge itself, was the way he was able to share it with us, with great communication skills and a perfectly balanced body language, never looked or sounded unprofessional and yet managed to come across friendly and caring.
A balance act that only a few can master!
As we left the restaurant with big smiles on our faces, still bragging on how great the experience had been my phone rings ( ..UK number ! ), He' s Henry, we left a bag at the table!
Just when we thought we could not be more impressed !
If you are looking for a place where you want a reliable, great, young and dynamic team to take care of you, where the pressure of having to choose your food is taken away by a cleaver set menu that allows them to give you the best value for money you will ever experience, here you found it!
Don't trust me, trust them!

There is no a la carte. the set menu is given on arrival. Several amazing courses all executed to perfection. One of the best food experiences we as a group experienced. The local area is a bit off the beaten track a fair walk from the river off a side street opposite a sex shop but once inside, very tranquil and beautiful. The tables are an oak feature and waiting staff will supply more information and photos on demand as they have little books regarding them. The best piece we had was the shrimp bisque and the pork that was cooked for 66 hours. Absolutely fantastic.

Our last night in Bordeaux we visited Son' Restaurant for an incredible meal. 5 courses, each more delicious than the last, with delightful wine pairings throughout. Not only did each dish look amazing, they tasted even better, and you'd be remiss to visit Bordeaux and not dine there. The staff were genuinely lovely and accommodating, very informative about dishes and wine pairings, and the restaurant itself the perfect venue for an evening out.

My husband & I are traveling throughout France and being in the restaurant business for 30 years, I am very particular about where I dine & do a lot of research to hand pick our dining selections. In Bordeaux, on night #1 we chose Son' Restaurant. The five course menu was exquisite, beautifully hand crafted plates and unique flavors throughout each of the five courses. The ambiance is intimate & condusive to conversation (date night). The service was outstanding by both the servers and the Chef who came out at the end of the evening to explain with passion & detail the dessert that he was serving to us that night. The wine list complimented the meal perfectly & it was one of the best dining experiences that we have had anywhere! We look forward to our return!

Took my mother for an incredible 5 course meal here. It was fabulous, from the staff and their knowledge of each dish and wine to the elegant, but unpretentious atmosphere.
Each course got better and better and culminated in the most exquisite dessert I have had for a long time (I love desserts!) Quite extraordinary! The pastry chef served us the desserts and painstakingly explained how he had put the dish together, with so much love, care and pride.
Highly recommend coming here, but you must book. It is a small restaurant.

Lunch Menü for 25 euros and the quality, service and presentation is absolut amazing.
We loved it there, great atmosphere, people are super welcoming and the chef comes to your table as well.
