Having for lunch in this cosy michelin starred restraurant on the route to Cahors. The place is at chuch of the town not big size with lower and uper part sitting in conjunction to a small courtyard to go out to get fresh air if you like which is nice in warm days. Had a three-course menue including foie gras... More

Delicious 1 Michelin star next to the cathedral in the historic centre. Our third visit did not disappoint. First rate starter of oyster and seafood sauce, perfectly cooked pigeon for the main course and exceptional sorbet to finish. The cooking is inventive, intense and light. Superb flavours sing through. The wine list must be one of the best in the... More

We had dinner at L'Essentiel and it was absolutely superb. The food was creative and perfectly executed. The owner was very friendly and gave excellent explainations of the various dishes. A great place. Highly recommended.

This restaurant is owned and run by a husband and wife team: she, front of house; he in the kitchen. And what a beautiful meal we had, every course perfectly cooked and the presentation of my dessert--a wonderful chocolate mousse (tower) on a poached pear with sorbet--was as delicious as it was to look at. Prices were very reasonable with... More

We had lunch at this restaurant and it was an absolute pleasure. A friendly welcome was given to us by Madame Vidal. We were seated in this small but cosy restaurant and given the menus. We chose the menu 'Gourmand' with three courses: escargots de Bourgogne and Foie gras de Canard confit for starters. The snails were delicious and beautifully... More

A truly perfect meal - the service was excellent, wine recommendations were on point (particularly the Montbazillac), and each dish was inspired and perfectly executed. Truly, everything went right.

Tucked in a pedestrian street by the St Front Cathedral is this relatively small restaurant which we have known for years. The menu changes with the seasons, with chef Eric Vidal (one-star Michelin) creating surprises in flavour as the dishes are also a delight to the eyes. There are two rooms with tables, some in the street terrace and the... More

We found L'Essential while trying to find a special place for a dinner during our stay. We decided to go for a later lunch as the set menu was half the place during lunch €30, However even dinner prices are still very good value at €60. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great and we sat outside in their courtyard... More

We had lunch here and the food and service were simply outstanding. It is worth a visit to this town just to eat here. Well deserved one star and compared favorably with other Michelin star restaurants we visited. Owner/host delightful and could not be friendlier.
