Easter break in Burgundy was made even more heavenly by dinner at Le Relais Bernard Loiseau. I had the set L'Hommage de Bernard Loiseau menu and it was a delightful exploration of his cuisine in relaxed setting. I started in the salon next to a roaring fire with an apperitif of Kir Royal and amuse bouche. I then moved to... More

If you are in the Burgundy Region, anywhere near Saulieu, and want an outstanding/expensive dining experience, go to the restaurant at Le Relais Bernard Loiseau. The current chef has added his master’s touch to that of the restaurant’s namesake (who shot himself when he thought he would lose 1 of his stars) to create a tour de force food and... More

The place is super nice, very formal, and the food was outstanding. The service was a bit stuffy, but that's also what its known for. All the dishes were beautiful, and tasted great. Portions were small by American standards, even for new world food. We had the price fix.. which was nice. But there were no choices/substitutions to avoid thing... More

We were a large group, and enjoyed a Friday lunch at Bernard Loiseau's restaurant. The food was really delicious, generous and well prepared. The duck especially was the standout for me! The wines were well matched by the personable Sommelier, and the service overall was good. Two of our party had to leave early, and the restaurant was happy to... More

For a three star Michelin restaurant that truly knows how to charge, it is disappointing that the most memorable part of our meal were the Turkish dried figs, prepared in-house, that came with our cheese. Indeed we even asked for, and were given, the special recipe for their preparation. Service was pretty aloof even though we speak good French and... More

An establishment of the highest order. Extremely welcoming and efficient. Beautiful cosy room with fireplace and large sitting area. Aircon works seamlessly even when 36c outside. The food is to die for, service exemplary, cannot recommend highly enough

I reviewed Le Relais Bernard Loiseau back in October and my comments then are still applicable. I note, however, that it has been downgraded from 3 to 2 Michelin stars and I would say that when I ate there it was barely at the 1 star level.

The waiter (Belgian:American) assigned to our table was more interested in telling us about his life than paying attention to our needs. They "forgot" to serve the cheese course to my companion. The food was ok but not stellar. Beef was tough. Signature dish of fish with crispy skin was good but not outstanding. The chef never appeared to say... More

We had an outstanding, multi course degustation menu for dinner. All courses were excellent and beautifully presented. There was lots of down time between the courses, however, and dinner took well over 2 hours. The fellow at the table next to ours actually fell asleep between two of his dinner courses. He did wake up widely alert for dessert!
