DON'T EAT HERE! We were looking for a place to eat and the guy at the door offered us to eat at this cafe, offered a free glass of wine for each, he was super nice (tres gentil). We ordered from the 3 course menu....Appetizers were okay, but then one of us as a main course got a rotten meat. We ordered stake though... So that was a surprise. Each of us tried a bite of that steak and spit it out. I called the waiter very politely and said that the meat wasn't fresh and he started arguing with me that it was fresh. We didn't make a scene or anything and stayed polite throughout the meal service, but the attitude of that guy at the door who acted as a manager and our server changed, they stopped being nice, stopped paying attention to our table, not even a smile or an apology. We still had a great time in Paris and enjoyed our stay there, but it is a shame that places like that exist in this beautiful city. And shame on these people. The last thing that is worth mentioning. When I went to use a toilet, I couldn't even wash my hands: the washroom had it all except for the tap (faucet). There was a sink to wash hands, but there was no tap lolMore

Just a couple of blocks from Notre Dame Cathedral and the infamous bookstore, Shakespeare and Co, lies a wonderful little cafe full of old world Parisian charm. It's small and cozy, and the staff will make you feel right at home. The onion soup is...the best I've had anywhere, with a hint of red wine and plenty of bread and cheese. If you love cheese, you must try the raclette. A specialty of France, it's a large block of cheese melted at your table to be served over potatoes and thinly sliced meat, although the meat is optional, so it is a vegetarian friendly dish. The chef also makes an excellent tart for dessert with custard and fruit. Between the lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food, I would recommend Le Latin to anyone in search of a great place to eat downtown Paris.More
