We moved away from the main Pigalle area and found Le Chaptal. A friendly welcome with our host in my finest school boy french. Drinks and food ordered, plate de jour, lovely chicken, fabulous steak, burger, fries, lovely salad. Our host was engaging, with lovely...young wife running the kitchen. Lovely evening, thank you.More

This small cafe serving home-cooked meals is frequented by locals. It is located just south of Pigalle. A lovely couple runs it, and they gladly adapt what is on their menu to your wishes. Rather than splashy and expensive, the food is simple and good....I go there all the time now.More

Husband was missing homestyle breakfast from home after 2 weeks on the road of travel. We stumbled upon this place. We are glad that we did! For Canadians & Americans alike, if you are missing the Sunday am bacon & egg breakfast while travelling abroad...then this is your 'go too' spot! Eggs & bacon were wonderful & served with delicious warm bread, butter & jam! Yum. The owner prepared freshly squeezed orange juice for us which was SO worth the extra euro of the bottled OJ that they offer. Friendly husband & wife team run this local restaurant. Worth the visit if you are missing the taste of home! While we only had breakfast there the menu was varied & I have no doubt that the rest of the food at this establishment would be delicious! Breakfast cost $23 Euros for two orders of bacon & eggs (perfectly prepared), scrumptious warm bread & freshly squeezed orange juice. Worth every cent!!More

I found the service to be a little bit ordinary and the food wasn’t any better. The Chicken was over cooked and dry. The sauce was not much to speak of and the only other thing was the fries which were ok. I seriously struggled...to rate the place despite other reviews.More

We came without expectation for dinner as it was round the corner from our hotel and a storm was brewing. Hungry and in need of shelter we went to Le Chaptal and ended up having the most delicious food - steak and frites, goats cheese...salad with crisp white Sauvignon and beer. It absolutely chucked it down so we stayed for hours and the owner was lovely - extremely hospitable trying his best with English and Spanish for all his guests - nice to see a good number of locals there too. He brought us complimentary crisps, bread and cheese which was a nice touch. Not haute cuisine, but good food done well with friendly service - couldn’t ask for a better storm shelter!More

We just felt like a quick light meal and found this place near our hotel. There was not a grand or extensive menu and no lavish surroundings but my husband and I rate this as one of our most enjoyable meals in Paris. It was...plain food cooked well. The passion, enthusiasm and happiness of the owners added to our enjoyment. We didn't have desert there because we wanted to try the wares of the patisserie next doorMore

Saturday morning I went for a walk near the Pigalle metro station. Stopped at Le Chaptal for an early lunch about 11:30 AM. Had fried eggs with salmon plus a croissant and big coffee - hit the spot, but the best was meeting the owners/operators,...who were very friendly and communicative. Very nice family run small neighborhood restaurant, just what I was looking for. My only regret was that I should have ordered an omelette. Definitely recommended for the neighborhood homey atmosphere.More

I had the opportunity to have lunch at Le Chaptal while visiting Paris during a long week-end. The place is very cute, in the spirit of french bistrot. The owners are very friendly. The food is simple but very good (my meat was cooked to...the perfection and the homemade desert -mousse au chocolat- incredible). I'll definetly go back during my next trip.More
