Here is a small unpretentious restaurant Vietanmien where it is good to stop. A small terrace but also two small rooms indoors. The staff is warm and discreet available. The menu is rich and varied. The dishes are very well served. Not need a big...budget to have enough to eat.More

We came in this restaurant on a Saturday for lunch. Most of the other restaurants (and there are plenty nearby!) were crammed full of people but this one had space. That should have been our clue that this was not a great place to eat....Then, once seated, we noticed that there were a lot of English speaking diners and hardly any local people eating there. The other restaurants were full of locals and we should have kept this in mind. The meal started off well in that our appetizers were really good. I had fried shrimp raviolis and my daughter had nems. Both appetizers were freshly made and very good. End of good times! My daughter ordered crispy noodles with chicken and veggies for her main dish. I ordered caramelized pork. She took one bite of her dish and made a grimace. She said she couldn't eat it because it had a funny taste. I took a bite and couldn't hardly swallow it! This stuff had a very strong taste of spoiled meat. We couldn't even eat the veggies or noodles because it was all covered it the strange-tasting sauce. I don't think it was supposed to taste this way. I think it was chicken gone bad. My pork dish, though quite unappetizing to look at, was ok. It was dry but didn't taste off. In fact, it didn't really have much of a taste at all. I tried to eat the cabbage slaw that was on the plate but after the bite of the chicken dish, I was so queasy feeling that I abandoned eating completely. We ate rice and that was it. I told the guy that appeared to be the manager that we couldn't eat the chicken dish. It was obvious that something was wrong because the entire plate was sitting there untouched. He nor the server who removed the plate later were concerned that we had uneaten food. I didn't ask to have the chicken dish taken off the tab because I felt that they'd assume it was us and not their food that was at fault. Meanwhile, we had a bill of 28€ for two people and all that was edible was the appetizer and rice. We left feeling ill and entirely disgusted. Won't go back ever again!!!More

Far off the beaten path, this part of Paris is a

around Chinese New Year. Place d’Italie impresses
onlookers as soon as they set their eyes on it. Not
far, around La Butte aux Cailles, the streets suddenly
