We were on our way to the restaurant next door, when we ended up here instead. We had a pleasant lunch that crafted some cool flavor combinations. The service was good, and, the manager took us on a tour of the restaurant next door too....I really liked it and thought it was good value.More

The food is great, the service is great and the place looks great. Everything was delicious and had a refined taste while the price was very reasonable. Really great!

The restaurant has a unique decoration: African Masks, part of a World War I plane fuselage, safari hats, African masks, and others. It is rather small, if you come with a large group they don't give you much space to wiggle around. Because of the...lack of space to move, somebody spilled wine on my blouse; we called the waiter and after some time he brought a couple of little napkins and we had to wipe the table and my blouse with them. Maybe I am used paper towel to clean any mess fast and efficiently, but when in Rome… Anyway, that's where my 4 rating comes from, the service could be better. Other than that, the food was exotic and delicious if you picked something you liked. The plates were from Morocco, Tunis, India, Vietnam, so you had to be daring, and you could be happily surprised. I ordered beef nems with basmati rice. Nems are sort of spring rolls from Vietnam. They were spicy and really good. Others at my table went for the duck confit and they loved it. Somebody at my table ordered tataki of tuna and it was delicious too. We ordered wine, I am not a connoisseur, but a good wine is a wine you like, and I liked what I had. For dessert, the creme brulee was fantastic.More

The good: Friendly waitress, best crème brulee in times, nice ambiance, spatious enough. The bad: strange combination of spring rolls, some lettuce leaves and Rice is not a main course to me. Tasty spring rolls though. The ugly: the duck pastilla was a strange combination...especially with the bean mousse. Pastilla should be crisp imho. This was soggy though and tasted earthlike because of the duck Meat, what was enhanced by the bean mousse. In the end not expensive but could be much better.More

My husband and I just happened on this place and had an excellent experience. Very attentive service, interesting concept and menu, very reasonable prices for this part of Paris. Risotto was wonderful as was the chocolate cake. Wine Menu rather limited but super reasonable and...just fine.More

My husband and I dined at Bouillon des Colonies after first trying its sister restaurant next door, Bouillon Racine. Its menu reflects the cuisine of France's far-flung former colonies, and includes Asian, African, and Middle Eastern fare. The spring rolls were fried, not fresh as...I expected, but very good. I had an African sampler platter that included various vegetable blends and carrots -- very tasty. Recommended for those who want a change from traditional French food.More

Every time I am in Paris I visit the Bouillon des Colonies. It has a cozy atmosphere and the food is good with a tasty touch of overseas. It is also very well located relatively close to Notre Dame. Don't get confused with the nearby...Bouillon Racine, same food but more upscale atmosphere and prices. Recommended.More

The food and staff were both great here (and English is widely spoken), but the real treat is the venue. I felt like I had time travelled to Belle Epoque Paris. I was disappointed that I didn't meet Toulouse Lautrec.

Don't go to this place if you are an English speaking person. The service is terrible as this is an overflow and after thought fron the restaurant next door Le Bouillon Racine, which I also suggest you avoid! They share a kitchen and food passes...between the two through the dinning room. We went fifteen minutes withou anyone in the dining area except patrons waiting on food.More

If you're in the 5th or 6th arrondissement this bistro is a good pick. It is just off St-Michel near the Sorbonne, easy to find. The menu is wide enough to satisfy most palates but still very creative, and the deco is unlike the typical...Parisian experience. More Africa than France per it's name.More
