They act strange with visitors. I also used the wc and the waitress had a strange look to me and my wife like we wanted to steal something. We had a 8 euro beer to use the restroom.... They should put a sign "only for French people not looking for bathroom"!

Hello, sorry about this misunderstood. We have to be vigilant about people go to restroom, that's a security question (and hygiene too). Finaly, I remember that she said sorry at your table outside. I think you understood why we do that... Thanks. More

On August 13, 2016 I came across this 'wonderful' cafe with my family, we were very tired with hugh bags and just wanted to visit WC and have 5 min rest.... there were few visitors so we didn't occupy much space.... the waiter ... didn't remember her name but she obviously was in her bad women days... asked me to... Hello sir, i'm sorry about this misunderstood. I think it's clear : you can read anywhere inside & ouside the restaurant "NO PUBLIC WC - CUSTOMERS ONLY". About the waiter (girl), she said "Hello" and let your children go to bathroom to be nice. But you, you were no pleasant and used private propriety without asking and without paying ;... More

Food was average at best. My husband had the toughest steak he's ever had, my quiche was okay, nothing special. I'd avoid this one.

We stopped in after a day of walking the sights for a happy hour beer, the waiter was polite and helpful, we ordered a cheese plate for the two of us to share. Lots of cheese a couple of beers and two happy customers watching the world pass bye

Le Sully is where I base myself when I'm in Paris. It's my morning café, afternoon wine and occasional meal. I usually rent an apartment in the area, so Le Sully is always on my list. In the 10+ years I've been going to Paris, I begin each trip here. Their Croque Madame is my favorite, hands down. Service is... More

I needed a quick meal between two social arrangements and this was a convenient location. I had been here before only once, for a drink with a friend. The waiter did not present me with a menu and I had to wait quite some time before he came to see what I wanted. The choice was not broad and I... More

I entered the cafe earlier this afternoon at 4.30 pm and asked the waiter very politely and in French whether I could possibly use their bathroom. His smile vanished immediately and he told me it was only for customers. He didn't even apologize or offered me to pay for the usage, he just turned me away with a cold face.... More

We are extremely sorry for this misunderstanding. Our employees have strict rules when it comes to permitting people use of our restrooms. Indeed, as a restaurant (and not a public place), we exclusively reserve use of our restrooms for customers. We do make exceptions for pregnant women! I apologize; the waiter did not see that you were pregnant. Also, French... More

The staff behind the bar was very rude, we left right away without eating there in the end. Don't recommend.

We sat outside this cafe for a coffee. A nice hot coffee (cafe creme). They had a busy restaurant inside. Good service. Nice toilets. Opposite us was the Seine, with a small park and playground. On the left hand side were several large stones that had come from the Bastille. A surprise find! Following the road straight up from the... More

Le Fumoir was full when we stopped there for lunch, so my wife & I continued our stroll northward, across the river, to this delightful cafe. We ate outside. I had a home-made cheese-burger & my wife had a cheese quiche, laden with pickle; both were delicious. Next time in Paris we will not stumble across Le Sully; we'll seek... More

Staying in Le Marais

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
