I took the menu at lunchtime. There were 2 choices of main course - roast chicken or stuffed suckling pig. I want for the latter after an unremarkable fillet of herring for starter. I was served with a large slice of stuffing and a coin-sized piece of pork. I asked the waitress if this was quite right and she tried... More

We did not have reservations. Our hotel recommended the restaurant. We arrived to a small but quaint restaurant. Perhaps 10 tables. The menu was in French (which we could read) but the staff noticed we were speaking in English and sent someone over to interpret the menu. It is obvious that they use very fresh fish, meat, veggies. The pricing... More

We stumbled upon this restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner there. Loved the wine we had, and it was made by the restaurant owner/actor, Gerard DePardieu. Learned that the actor lives just down the street, so we took a peek on our way back to our hotel. A small, casual restaurant; a 3-generation French family was eating at a table... More

I read several negative reviews of this restaurant but happily our experience was very different. We arrived on a weeknight without reservation, at the recommendation of our nearby hotel, and were seated at a window table in a nice, romantic corner after a short wait. The ambience was typical French Bistro – soft lighting, full and bustling but not loud,... More

If you are looking for a typical Parisian place to eat, this is the spot. This well located, Bistro like restaurant, Rue du Cherche Midi, offers the warm cultural ambiance of French gastronomy. The menu is arranged well, with great weekly specials. Staff very efficient especially the Spanish speaking woman manager, who took care of us from the reservation to... More

We arrived here meaning to go next door. Happily we stayed and tried their delicious canette rotie, their specialty. Only later to find out, this restaurant belongs to a dear French Actor! The main course was very well served. It was really good. I am actually looking forward to going back there!

This small restaurant serves good fresh french food in a quite straight forward way. It is a very simple setting , bistro like. The starters and desserts are around 8-9 € and the maincourse is around 22 € . What is quite amazing here is the price of the wine wich is good and inexpencive with really cute names (Le Voleur... More

We went on recommendation of the hotel receptionist. It was right down the street from the hotel and thus a good idea. It was an attractive small restaurant and we hoped for the best. I believe if you were a regular it might be so-they seem to go head over heels for them. If you don't have wine or an... More

The famous french actor Mr Depardieu's grandest farce yet. Very very slow service, wrong starters, wrong main course (they had run out but not told us, assumed we would accept the replacement), poor staff (selfies not service, I am not kidding) and very average food.

Cosy wine bar and rotisserie, a good place to sample Gérard Depardieu's wines. My roast chicken (poulet rôti à la broche) was tender and copious, baba au rhum with mango dessert - good ..but it is the wines that I liked the most. Good selection of wine by the glass (from 5€) for wonderful wines, with fresh baguette, a cheese... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
