We went for breakfast on this visit. I think it is a bit better for lunch but breakfast is very good and we had the place to ourselves. Service was good, as well.

We rarely eat at our hotel when in Paris unless it is included. We like the morning walk, and alternatives. Bakery Paul is always good and inexpensive however Cuisine De Bar offers bread from Poulaine with homemade preserves and even soup for breakfast.Pastries such as the apple tart, brioch etc are available from the bakery next door.Always leisurely and enjoyable to watch... We've been here several times in past years and always enjoyed the experience: the sandwiches, which are made with delicious Poilane bread (they own the place and the bakery is right next door) or their soups were always wonderful. Not so this time. The sandwiches were bland and unimpressive while the service was simply terrible. It was obvious that there... More

Nice small breakfast cafe. Patry abd coffee and the stereotype Parisian brekfast cafe. Single server but so quaint and nice a perfect setting

We stopped by this tartine shop in August after seeing it featured on "The Barefoot Contessa," and it being August, and it being France, the restaurant was closed with no notice on their website. We came back two weeks later, on a Sunday in September, our very last stop before going to the airport, to get tartines for the road.... More

We noticed the tartines as we stopped in for a cafe crema prior to our "Paris by Mouth" food tour, so we returned the next day to try them ourselves. The Jambon combo (soup or salad, wine or sparking water, included) which was delicious. The restaurant is associated with the famous bakery, Poilane, and serves its bread and pastries. The... More

I heard about this restaurant from the famous chef and cookbook author, Ina Garten. She raves over the bread from Poilane's, and this restaurant is just next door, and uses their bread. My husband and I had the mozzarella, tomato, basil tartine (open face sandwich, and this particular combo made it kind of like a pizza. A tartine is a... More

What a disappointment. Service, while seemingly well intended, was terrible. They couldn't be more disorganised. The food was mediocre at best. How can you burn your bread when that is what your establishment is promoting (Poilane)?! Had to ask for things multiple times and still did not receive things. Don't waste your time or money.

We had ventured through the Marché Raspail, an amazing organic food market on Sunday mornings in Paris, and wandered around the corner to Cuisine de Bar for brunch. I ordered the soft boiled eggs with ham. It was beautifully served with the eggs sitting on holes in the toast, ham on the side, and butter and creme fraiche... I felt... More

We got the tartine Bon (ham, cheese - watch out - it's a ripe cheese, not Gruyere) and the chicken with capers. Simple ope faced. Comes with soup or salad. Stick to a flavor profile you know. We asked for Dijon mustard, they don't have it. Seating is stools and tight tables with wall bench seat. Would likely not go... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
