Arrived late in the evening. Was seated and served promptly. English menus are available. Food was good and reasonably priced. Enjoyed ourselves.

Okay something's are worth the wait. I recommend going during the week and not on the tourist filled weekends. The food is okay but you go for the atmosphere..

the onions soup was simple, diluted and boring. unlike others we tried in Paris. the crabs pie (can remember the exact name) was tasteless and cold. when we asked for butter - we got it in small factory packages. the only one good thing was the Jerusalem artichoke soup. When the waitress saw that we didn't touch the crabs pie... More

I was recommended to go that and was heavily disappointed. Don't let the long lines fool you : it's only the location that is typical French and appealing. The food is a disaster. We got our food literally 5 minutes after ordering it. This is fast even for fast fix restaurants. And everything was bland and totally generic. Plus they... More

I actually came here with a party of school children! Their jaws dropped as we made our way up the alleyway, through the revolving door and into the restaurant. Wow!!! Although we had pre-ordered relatively child friendly meals, chicken and chips, we were not disappointed. Traditional waiter service, busy hustle and bustle in an authentic Paris restaurant! Even the platters... More

If you are ready to wait for 30 mm in the queue this is a place to go! The food isn't excellent neither bad, I would say acceptable. The place is really nice but incredible noisy, you won't be seated comfortably and the tables are very small.

This is one place you have to visit. It's the atmosphere and the history of the restaurant - the food is ok, basic and it takes second place to the venue. It's a unique place and one of a kind and deserves to survive in this day and age - just go, enjoy the theatre of the venue and people... More

One of the things I always do when I'm in Paris is going to Chartier. The architecture of the restaurant is still like 1896 and for the 120th birthday last year, they even invented a souvenir shop. What I like about it is that you never know what to expect! If the waiters are in a good mood, who they... More

We went here because we saw the long queues waiting to get in. Expecting a long wait I loved that we were taken out of the line as we were only a couple and taken straight to a table which we shared with others. We were seated with some famous French people who were stunned that foreigners would like such... More

This is a classic and the perfect place for the feel of a real French meal back in the day. I have been several times. Good, classic food. Nothing fancy or frilly. The waiters tally up your meal on the paper tablecloths. So cool. AND they are always right!

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
