The food was mediocre at best. Service was below average. No one in our party finished their plates.

I ordered a scandinavian salad and bulgur. I had a great food. When leaving, I told the waiter that the chief must be experienced for twenty years. Prices were deterrents and there was one table higher than the other. My table napkin showed some black streaks.

French friends recommended this historic (1876) Brasserie with it's classic menu, (with some adventurous selections for non-French diners,) and it was an excellent choice. Three of us enjoyed a wonderful, unhurried lunch. Each of the courses was delicious and filling. The recommended wine was also very good. The staff were welcoming, courteous and helpful.

We enjoyed supper here and were the only Americans. The lightly smoked fish and spinach I had were delicious, and my companion had a go at a dish not for the faint hearted -- some sort of stew made with parts of a veal head adrift amid carrots, potatoes and leeks. He said it was delicious and that was a... More

Nice typical French Brasserie with good atmosphere. Wonderful ambience. The food was excellent and we had an excellent time. Great wine selection. And so was the desert (crème caramel).

Lovely historic dining room with the sort of old Paris atmosphere you expect to find. Small typical bistro menu. Very good food. A nice wine list that the waiters will help you with if you are unsure. Beware the rum baba is huge and should be shared! Service impeccable and very friendly. And it's reasonably priced. I only write reviews... More

I took my family to Gallopin for a wonderful Christmas lunch. There were 6 of us, all with different pallets and this restaurant had something fabulous for each of us. One steps into the Belle Epoque in this gloriously-preserved restaurant. Professional service, classic menu. But prices are a bit high, and there is nothing modern about this place. Just good solid old-fashioned charm.

We wanted something that felt properly French and this didn't disappoint. 830 on a Friday night and we were able to get a table without a reservation. Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
